I'm really sorry to mess you around Jamie but Im going to have to let my place go to somebody else. Something else has come up on the 4th that I can't get out of. It's a real shame because I was looking forward to meeting you all and seeing soe of these 8P S3s!! Good luck with the day; make sure you let me know when the next one will be and I'll be there for sure!

This is copied from another thread, but is specific to some queries that were coming up around some of the finer details on GIAC software:

Right - I can't remember which post it was where all sort of questions where asked about the GIAC software and how it works etc, so here is the reply I got:

Q1. The GIAC standard map you have the option of switching back to. Is this a GIAC map (ie still a remapped version) or is it a copy of the original/latest Audi standard software?

A1. This is the OE map with the most up to date version, so there is no need for the dealer to up date the software.


Q2. Flash counter. Is this set to stay at 1 or 0, or does it automatically delete any additional flashes. Ie, if a car already had flash count of 3 from Audi work, would it stay at 3 when the GIAC is added.

A2. It will always stay on the number that was already present on the ECU. If a dealer still reflashes, the GIAc will need to be re-insalled, but will then keep the flash count to what the dealer last flashed the ECU to.


Q3. How detectable is it to a dealer?

A3. Zero as the flasher and security counters are not increased and the software code is the most up to date. Only a boost check will indicate that there is software. However the tech has to know what he is looking at.

Yeah I've heard.
Was at West London Audi today, they had 3 x RS4's below £40k all on 57 plates!
I'd heard the M3 was dropping and dropping in price... 'm also wanting to keep an eye on Merc C63 AMG's when they start hitting the used forecourt!
 
I'll definitely be there with at least +1 but probably +3 (Navara, Golf GTI MkIV, 350Z)

I'm definitely going to get remapped i think, I only just managed to beat a Range Rover Sport Supercharged off the lights today - but I didn't start too agressively..
 
Norm - I'll add you to the MAYBE list - I have to give those that added there names earlier first shot.
Magnus911 - again, the Navara I already had on the list, the MKIV GTi (unless it's SamPet?) and 350z will have to again go on the maybe list if they want to go on the rollers. Let me kow what they want to do.

Jamie, the Golf is SamPet, and he'd like to go on the rollers please. I think the 350 is there mainly for posing but he'll step up I'm sure if there's a slot available.

OK Jamie, put me back down for a GIAC Hammer map with flashloader ;) . My weak will means that I just can't resist the temptation of a more powerful and faster car :whistle2:!

Right guys,

Just heard back from Regal.

Pretty much an open agenda for the day TBH.
Aim to arrive between 8:30 and 9:00 with first cars going on the rollers at 9:00.
Chris has suggested not to try and do a list with alloted time's as it usually goes tits up with people arriving late, etc, etc.

However, I appreciate some people are making a bit of a trek to get there, so anyone who is going to be arriving or leaving at specific times, let me know so we can be sure to get you fitted in.

If you are wanting any hardware fitted on the day including any maps - contact Regal directly so they know and can manage work on your car accordingly.
If you mention it's relating to the Rolling Road day on the 4th they will also be aware of the discounts etc.
