Guys, does anyone know the option code for a 2.0L TDI Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF)? In other words, how would I know for sure the car was fitted with a DPF? Looking down on the engine bay, it's impossible to see the exhaust system without removing the top cover.
Thanks in advance.

if you look on the sticker in the boot it will tell you - if it says 125Kw 2.0TDI then its a DPF equipped TDI

Steve, I think your answer referrs to the 170 horsepower 2.0L TDI. I am looking for the DPF identifier for a 140 horsepower 2.0L TDI. Or perhaps all of the 2006 and later models of the 140 hp are automatically fitted with the DPF?????

UK supplied 2.0TDI-140 have only been fitted with a DPF from the 2009 model year ie those with the new common-rail engines. Up till then only the 2.0TDI-170 was fitted with it. As far as I'm aware it was never offered as an option on UK supplied 140s, although it was available as an option in Germany and some other European countries.

Thank you H5djr, that was interesting information. My A3 is a French one and the only clue I have is the code '0GG' in the options code list in the boot. Decoded this means "Emissions Concept EU 4". It does not actually say 'DPF' so I am mystified. In the French brochure there is no option for DPF, as all engine specifications list a DPF as standard. I had the engine cover off this evening, and I still cannot see around the back of the engine clearly enough to spot the DPF cannister. Perhaps it is there after all. Any members with information on European A3's? Is there any easy way to determine if a DPF is actually fitted? Ideas welcome.

My current 2.0TDI-170 is fitted with a DPF and has a code 7GG included on the details sticker. Looking up this code it means 7GG=emissions concept EU4 with DPF.

i doubt the 140 TDI you have has a DPF - you would know if it did as you would be aware of the regeneration cycle every now and again and perhaps the lighting up of a light on your dash when it gets blocked?

Do you have the same style tailpipes as the 170 on your car?
The 140's that have had a DPF fitted as an option come with the straight exit exhaust tails as fitted to the 170 as opposed to the standard 'downturned' pipes normally fitted to a 140..

Yep straight exhausts is a sure fire sign of a DPF fitted to a modern deisel car.
