Afternoon Chap's

Doe's anyone have this..?

My car supposidly has these and since i got it in May i haven't actually been out in the dark till last night. I couldn't see the beam turning as the steering wheel moved so wondering it it has them at all. i was travelling mixed speeds up to 60mph ish.

I have my lights normally set to Auto and tried moving to its normal switch position to no avail.

If you start the car (and the lights are on), they run a self test and should dip to the floor and come back to level. If you also have the adaptive feature the lights should also move out to the sides and then back to straight ahead. I think someone posted a video of this a while back.

This is on a Seat, but IIRC it's a similar thing.

EDIT:
This is a 2007 Passat

Mine doesn't do that...the side to side bit anyway. I think i was mis-sold..!

Is there any other way i can check..? Can i ring Audi UK or something to actually get the full spec of my car..?

Mine works just like the video. First down/up then sideways and back.

if you ask your dealer to print you off the data sheet for your car you it should list adaptive lights if you have them.

alternatively if you look at the inside cover of your service book there should be a sticker with loads of 3 character codes.

the ones for xenons are:
8BP = Xenon
8EC = Bi-Xenon Linksverkehr
8ED = Bi-Xenon Rechtsverkehr
8EJ = Bi-Xenon Linksverkehr "J.."
8JG = Xenon Rechtsverkehr
8JJ = Xenon Linksverkehr

are any of these codes on your list?

no not broken, they dont do this everytime, they adjust when you drive all the time anyway & you dont notice this mostly, dont worry they seem to be working if you do see them doing this on odd occassion

just be aware, people's perception is that all Bi-xenon oem headlights also have the left to right option, this isnt true, there are 4 types of headlights in all:

1: Halogen - Obviously standard yellow look
2: Xenon - Dipped Xenon with auto levelling
3: Bi-xenon - Dipped/Raised Xenon with auto levelling
4: Bi-xenon plus/adaptive(known as with curve in europe) - Dipped/Raised Xenon with auto levelling with left to right function (configurable for opposite side driving with vag & 5052)

All xenon headlights have the auto levelling system up/down & should always have the headlight washers as it appears to be law now I believe with xenons for some reason I dont know

Auto & normal position wont make any difference to the left/right up/down system, these systems are switched on when the lights are on in either auto or normal setting on dial, need to get actual part number for headlights but you can also check the headlight control module as this indicates the lights installed as its different for adaptive/plus from normal bi-xenon & also the headlight levelling control module is different for adaptive/plus as doing mod from xenon to bi-xenon plus when got headlights

If you have VAG & ETKA you can easily work out what you have
