Hoping for a steer here - I'm looking to do my first trackday in my own car before the Summer is out, but wanting to err on the side of caution I want to explore getting some bespoke insurance cover. Can any of you guys point me towards a suitable company, where I'm not going to be scared off by the prospective premium?

I've used Moris in the past (link below):

They offer single day cover, although it might be a few quid to cover an S3 !

HIC Insurance also do track day cover, although this tends to be as part of their standard motor policies, and works out much more cost effective if you plan on doing a few events within a 12 month period .

Don't bother mate - I asked for a quite for a 'Ring trip last year. Can't remember exactly but it was something like £350 for the day with a £5,000 excess .... track days are 300 times safer than driving to work on British roads I promise you. I've done loads and never seen a crash of any kind. Not sure where you live but Anglesey is a very safe place to start with massive gravel run offs just in case you outbrake yourself ....

Have to say that I agree with Iggu, despite me providing you with insurance details . I didn't bother with it after the first one, as I realised that they are actually pretty safe as long as you keep within reasonable limits (assuming that you can avoid the red mist )

Thanks guys,

As I live in Edinburgh it would likely be Knockhill which i've driven before in Seat Cupras and a Ferrari F355. It's not a hugely fast circuit so I'm not overly concerned about binning the car but was thinking that if cover wasn't too expensive I'd maybe look at doing it. I was also considering trying to make it down to Croft at some point to give a longer circuit a try.

Try Moris anyway, as their cover varies depending upon the circuit and the organising company . I'd be interested to know what you get quoted for Croft...

which is the circuit that some comapnies have stopped covering ? was it croft ?

I used Moris last year. £202 for £20k of own damage cover including tow home cover. This was for Brands Hatch. Of all the cars there (prob about 50 in total, including R8s, the Gumpert Apollo S, Ford GT, Renault Clio), I saw only two accidents - one a carbon fibre kit car's engine caught fire and the other where an old Capri went hoofing off at the end of the start straight. I guess nobody wants to stuff their pride and joy! It was my first track day and track discipline was excellent, so I am not sure whether I would take it out again on an event like this.
