your next car is gonna be a............

350z can't wait :yahoo: want it now but i havent got the space for 2 cars so i have to sell mine first grrrrr.

if you don't like FWD why the hell buy a 4x4 ? if your going down that route get a proper 4x4 and get a defender :)

I take it by the fact that you're looking at something like an x5 you need a bit of space in the car?

If not then you need a slap for even considering it lol but if you do....

I'd go for something like a 540i if you wanna keep it BMW, or an ST220 estate(try it it's worth it) or an alfa 159 or perhaps an accord S type estate.

If its for economy again you need a slap for thinking about an x5 as they just arent, but again try a 530D, 330CD, A4 2.0TDI, Accord Diesel, the mondeo St Diesel etc

IF none of the above count....buy a boxster lol

???????????because its not a fwd...............

I can understand something like a scooby or evo but an X5 isn't even in the same league, its an SUV in which case get a proper 4x4 and get a defender :) if you going to consider the X5 then why not consider an FWD car, something like a Clio 182 would be more fun. If you must avoid FWD what about a 330d or an A4 3.0tdi ?

Might not be any help to you but my next car for fun will be either an evo 6,toyata supra tt or a nissan skyline.Anyone of them will put a big smile on my face.

Hmmm next car for me would either be:

A3 2.0 TDi (170) S-Line

or

BMW 320D M Sport

Why dont you buy a Toyota Aygo CRAZY??

The car is the size of a mouse, its rear engined, RWD with 200bhp

Sounds good to me :yahoo:

Errr, is this some special edition Aygo I dont know about as I always thought they were 1.0ltr fwd with less horsepower than a slug?!!

Sensible suggestions might be more forthcoming if you give us an idea of what you want from a new car?

It looks like my secondment up North is going to be cut short and its looking very likely i will have to go back to working out of the London office and if this is the case i will be commuting up north every wk end to see my girlfriend so i will be chopping in my S3 and newly brought 2.0td compact and buying one of these as im really impressed with my 2.0td but would like something a bit newer.

Not bad perfomance from a diesel:

148mph
0-60 7sec

£10k give or take 2k is a huge budget, so many options available, key thing is, do you mind and older car or does it have to be a modern motor? And does the increase in roadtax charges bother you at all?

Oh and more on topic, im liking the 1series coupe, just something about it that looks pretty decent and the performance on it, well its pretty good!!

Ahh, see what your on about now, although with 200bhp and only weighting a ton its darn slow if you ask me, 127mph estimated top speed?! Must have zero torque!

As for the 1-series coupe, gotta say I think its pig ugly, or maybe a pig is 1-series coupe ugly! There's a BMW head office just round the corner from my office so get to see a daily dose of almost every BMW going as they seem to have an aversion to walking the 500m from their office to the local Tesco for their lunch! See a lot of these, and more increasingly the 1-series cabrio, they're ugly & pointless imo. Why pay just a little less than a 3-series to have a smaller boot & less rear legroom, you might as well get a Z4 if rear room or luggage space isnt a requirement!

Probably a 996 Turbo. The wife has the practical car nowadays

2003 RS6 avant :)............... YEH BABY !

I was going to point you in the direction of a Black Avant for sale, but you already made a post and stated you wanted a standard one already lol, so you must have spotted already. These things can be had for peanuts now with the way the roadtax charges are going, and whilst I can afford to buy and run one, it's not the most economical choice for me at this moment of time.

this is my situation, wifey has a fiesta we have two small children and i mainly use my car for commuting back and forth to work (90 miles per week) and because the wife has a smallish car if there is any driving to be done on the weekend with all the clan, its in my car. so to answer youre question, i would prefer a newer car (more for reliability) and the ved charges are in the back of my mind when deciding on what car to buy, which is why ive not gone out and bought a x5.

scooby - too common
evo - too common (and chavvy)
defender - too uncomfortable to drive
i would consider rear wheel drive 330d, very good suggestion but very expensive.
a4 3.0tdi rwd or fwd?
i am not considering a fwd because of the fun factor 4wd and rwd give.

Have you test driven an X5? I can't imagine them having much fun factor to be honest. More of a cruiser. 330d sounds like a better plan.

i think ill either get an S3 or if i can find 1 a S4. cant be affording RS range just yet!

wouldnt mind a cupra R either.

Id get a 4 litre Range Rover... because noone is buying them so they've super dropped the price... (according to L6ON) ;)

Other than that I have no idea whats next... avent forward planned me life for the next 2 years yet.

Mine is also going to be a 350z in blue...gotta wiat til next summer though

So your basically after a family saloon/hatchback with a bit of poke but economical to boot. Ok then, the Audi range would see you looking at A4/A6 quattro to avoid the fwd, 3.0 TDi engine would be nice of course, autrotrader has plenty of 54/05 plate A6 3.0 TDi quattro's about £12k, might have 70k odd on the clock but thats nothing really, they're nicely run it! They're 221bhp & 450nm torque so very quick, but a band F tax, not so good! The older shape 330d's would be in your price range too, better looking than the newer saloon imo, only 184bhp & 390nm torque so down on power to the Audi engine, but a band E tax. The Ford Modeo ST TCDi might be fwd but totally dripping with kit, a great engine which being a 2.2 TDi (152 bhp & 360nm torque) its only a band D tax to good there too! '05 platers are only £7-8k so dirt cheap to buy & run! Good looking too imo! For rwd there's the Merc C-class 320d with a 3.0 engine with 224bhp & grou F tax, at about £15k its bursting the budget a little though! Or you've got the Passat, basically a slightly cheaper A6, but the biggest engine is the 2.0TDi 170bhp engine in it, but it still hits a group E tax band.

And thats me out of sensible ideas! If my heart ruled i'd be looking at the A6 3.0TDi but if my wallet ruled the Ford St TDCi would win!

Got my Escort for Sunday so it would be the daily hack as my current A4 is. Also has to cope with the wife bouncing it down the track to the stables
