I was originally quoted end of August but the date just kept on moving forward, It was even due to come tomorrow but they moved forward a day!

I dont know whether the insurance company have pushed things ahead somehow, as they were paying £55 per day for a Ford Focus for me to use in the meantime.

the Dis does look good. If i could, i'd change all the interior LEDs to blue. Liked the red on my last red car, but with my akoya silver I think blue would be nice. That said, it would be impossible.
 
Loving the colour DIS it's just a shame the didn't carry it over to the stereo and climate display.
 
Beautiful motor mate. Good choice of colour too. Quite similar to my Avus Silver.
Audi are really confusing me though.... That's an S-Line but the grille only has horizontal 'slats'? Not horizontal AND vertical ones like every other S-Line grille i've seen. Do they make it up as they go along?!

Anyway, congratulations. Still can't get used to the size of those mirrors though. No doubt in a year or two when they're common i'll get used to them.

yeah I know what you mean!
Ive kinda got used to them from the outside, but whilst driving they look live van mirrors, theyre massive!!
But, they do give you great visibility I suppose, and as you say, once they're more common they should blend in a little better

Must admit, I thought the same. Seems a bit of an odd decision to have 2 different colours for the displays.

Still looks the mutt's nuts though. :thumbsup:
 
I'd be interested to know how well the white display lights read at night in comparison to red/orange. The white 'look' better though definitely...

Is it really that easy?

I've ordered my new S3 with the standard Concert radio. However, am I right in saying that the Concert now has the Double DIN that RNS-E requires?

Bearing in mind that I have ordered Bluetooth phone prep and iPod connection with my car and would like them to integrate with the RNS-E unit, does this complicate matters a little more? I also hear that you have to install a GPS antenna behind the instrument cluster.

As I'm a total novice at anything to do with car entertainment installation, is there a decent guide somewhere that shows what is involved. RNS-E installation for dummies, something like that. I'm pretty handy at building PCs, so how does this compare?

Apologies if I'm hijacking the thread. :blush:
 
Yes, physically it is really easy, The RNS-e just slots straight in.
The antenna can be mounted above the RNS-e with a little velcro, no need to make any holes as they are already there.

The only slight problem is you will need access to VagCom to activate nav instructions on DIS, as well as activate your phone prep on the RNS-e, but this is only a 5 minute job with the right tools.

In my last motor I installed RNS-e, bluetooth and Ipod in one go and the whole lot only took a couple of hours, including running the cable harness for bluetooth and microphone etc.
As you will already have bluetooth all cabling should be done for you, and with some coding you can enable SDS on the RNS-e allowing you to operate the RNS-e by talking to it!!

Very nice it has to be said. I'm loving the DIS, the new air con controls (looks a lot 'neater' if you know what I mean) and the rear looks great - nice chrome tips on the exhaust as well - why they didn't do this on the old 140 model I don't know - looks much better IMO.
 
Not a button but a cover. Flip it up to reveal a jack plug - for ipod and stuff.
 
Doubt it but I guess the new nano might. Got the factory dock myself so have never used it.
 
I haven't got round to using the aux connector yet, but the recess is not big enough for the ipod. Also the Aux cover feels and looks quite cheap, compared to the rest of the interior. It really feels like an afterthought.

Ive just bought a Dension interface, so I dont think this Aux connector will be used much.

I was trying to think of another use for the Aux connector by using the cable that will be running to the back of the stereo. I would have thought there would be a Shield, left and right wire which in theory could be plugged into another input - maybe video input on RNS-e when I get it?

Any other ideas what it could be used for?

That's not correct - at least on pre-facelift cars, anyway. VAGCOM coding is only required for DIS on A4 and A6 models. The A3 8P uses DIS straightaway when the RNS-E is connected. However, while the RNS-E will work fine, some coding is required at some stage because some diagnostic errors will be thrown up, although I've never got mine done! Coding will be required for Bluetooth, Bose, TV etc.The car looks great by the way. I'm surprised at all the other small changes, like the reshaped climate control, the buttons across the middle (where the hazard warning button is) and the air vents, as well as things like the colour DIS and so on. Looks great.
 
Funny isn't it.... I was totally turned off by the facelift and thought it was ugly. The changes Audi had made didn't make any sense to me, seemed like they were there for the sake of it....
But i'm starting to really like it. The A3/S3 seems to really tie in with the new corporate image now. Looks quite similar to the A5, A4 etc from the front which i like. It genuinely looks more 'modern' than the pre-facelift to me. Even the wing mirrors are growing on me.....no, really!

Still not sold on the LED's and massively dislike the new S3 wheels though....They're just fugly.

Yeah it's grown on me too. I wasn't convinced at first, but it has got to the stage where I think the facelift looks much more modern compared to the old model, which dare I say is beginning to look a little plain to me.

With regards to the new S3 wheels, I saw some in-the-flesh on a TT the other day, and they seem to look much less outlandish than they do in photos.
 
The new S3 wheels are nowhere near as bad as those that are on the Sport model.....now, they really are fugly.
 
audi upgrades
I'd probably just spec the 19" RS4's if possible or just fit some BBS etc. afterwards. I think bad wheels can totally ruin the road presence of a car. Shame really because Audi nearly always get wheel design bang on.
 
You have to question whether they know the wheels are so ugly that buyers will "have to" upgrade.

Very cynical!

I'd say it's unlikely they do it on purpose. A lot of people couldn't care less what their wheels look like and will stick with the default wheel, so I don't think Audi intentionally make them look crap, as I'm sure they don't want to put other people off buying their cars.
