My climate control must be turned down to about 18 before it begins to produce enough cold air to cool the car. However, if the car is left in the sun, the climate control does run very hard to reduce the temp but on normal days it never seems to produce enough cold air with high speed on the fan.

Does it need to be or can it be recalibrated?

Is this a common fault?

think i got the same problem , my car was in the sun for hours yesterday got in it to drive home it was baking inside drove for 40 mins and it never got cold inside. tried using the LO setting tried 16c high fan low fan speed no difference.... ??????

Its the same in my car, feels very tame compared to other cars I've had

yep my last car was a bmw with climate like an ice box somedays
but before that a had a3 with just AC and not climate that was ok if i remember ????

yeah even when you set it to the lowest and fan on full its nothing compared my last motors. It still does cool the cab down, but takes a lot longer.
My last car would give me frostbite on my fingers running flat out!

yep, same crappy results in mine too...

my last car if you left it blasting out on its lowest for 5 mins you could see your breath! ;)

Same here.

Seems to take an age to cool the car on a hot day. It maybe holding out for another ice age. :)

i find mine working as intended....

Also if your car is very hot, open the windows a few inches even with aircon on for a while, like that hot air will get out of the car easily and quickly..

Was at the beach today and car was a bit hot... took one minute to become a nice place to spend the hour long round trip... Maybe other ac work better but I couldn't fault mine at all...

dunno not sure might take it back to audi dealer still under cover with them...

i am comparing it to my bmw which always got so cold was like being in antartic some days.....????????

I always thought my aircon on the A3 sucked, I still do when compared to other cars I have been in or had.

But

When I had it regassed by Audi, the system was much cooler although it still pales in comparison to other cars.

So for 3 years, I just thought the aircon was very poor compared to others, now I think it's below average :)

lol

I too am comparing to the BMW aircon... maybe that is over cool in the average??

I have noticed though that contrary to what my old man used to tell me, things cool down much quicker if you turn the aircon down and open the window/s a bit

HI ALL..

took my a3 back into the dealers today i still wasnt happy with the AC issue,
turns out that i had got a faulty AC compressor and they changing it now for me...

so hopefully some cold air in the car on the way home tonight.......

I think the compressor is lower power in the 3; I too had a similar thing yesterday (black car, black interior!). I do have a sunroof and that lets the heat out very quickly indeed and once moving it goes colder but took a good 10 mins to clear out the heat...

Any of you guys have your windows tinted? That'd be one of the first thing I do when I finally bring it back home. It did wonders on my old A4, the big glass piece is literally a huge heating plate under the sun.

Gents,

there is now an Air Con forum in the technical forums section. It's new, so not too busy, but I will soon be putting up a FAQs thread to answer most questions I have encountered recently.

Cheers
