Need to get my clutch and flywheel replaced on my 2001 S3.

Have been recommended a SPEC stage 3+ and Alu flywheel but just had a conversation with JBS who explained the chatter is very noisy on the alu flywheel - before I spend 300 quid on one I was hoping to get feedback from anyone who's got/had one? Is it really that bad,?

Cheers,
Gav

do some research on spec stg 3+ there are reports of problems with that clutch

can the vr6 and g60 flywheels nt fit s3?

If so, do that hand a sachs organic uprated clutch kit. Nice, progressive, not noisy and can take a lot of abuse once bedded in.

From what I've read any single mass flywheel will rattle on idle. The dual mass has oil in it to dampen the noise.

JBS know their stuff - why not ask them what they would recommend (and get a price to compare against)

Awesome GTI also advised me on an uprated clutch & flywheel but can't remember what make it was or how much but again worht a quick phone call.

So THATS what that noise is ever since I had my G60 flywheel fitted!

Understood.

i have a helix set up on my car which includes a single mass flywheel.Rattles like a bitch on tickover, sounds like someone dropped a bag of bolts in the engine:wacko:once rolling though you can't hear it and gearchanges are lighter and quicker for sure.

I'm actually very happy you guys have said this, I was thinking of taking the car back to the guy who fitted it!

It rattles a load on tickover, but the sound goes when you push the clutch in.

As stated, once bedded in, it's an awesome clutch, light in use, progressive, yet still rated way above standard :)
