Due to several circumstances, my pride and joy will be going on the market within the next couple of weeks.:blownose:

This is 85% certain at the moment, so, looking for cheaper alternataves at the moment.

Firstly, where is the best place to advertise it do you think?? and what would you pitch it at??

Secondly, will be spending circa 15K on something cheaper, any ideas?????

Been half looking at:

Golf GTI's
VXR's
Fist of the new shape R32's etc

Any other ideas?

Cheers lads:thumbsup::blownose:

Shame Lee that its gotta go.:bye:

Am i right in thinking you've only had it a couple of months?

Stay out of VXR/ST territory. Once in the S3 these will be cheap and cheerful alternatives.

Go down the stablemate route of VW. At least familiarity and quality to match.
Plenty nice Golfs out there.

Mk5 GTI is a great car, and you can make it quicker than a standard S3 with a few well chosen mods..

Even though the GTI is a chunk less money its more like a step sideways (ish) than completely down..

2.0T maybe? Not quite as fun as a gti but you can stick with the A3 shape if you like it.

Mmm had a A3 2.0 T before '06' and did like it, in fact had it for 18 months, which is a record for me!!!

But fancy a golf, however, my last few cars have been 4WD so would like to stick with that really.

So, maybe a A3 Quattro, or first of the new shape R32??

Try it on Autotrader and Pistonheads. PH is free so maybe try it on there for a week or two. I bought my S3 through PH classifieds and sold my MK5 Gti through Autotrader. Lots of cars changing hands this way nowadays.

In your position I would go for a MK5Gti, brilliant car. Plenty used ones around and prices are sensible now, mine went for £12800 in excellent order, leather, MONZA2s, REVO (250bhp), only 26K miles on a 54plate, lot of car for the money IMO.

Good luck !

cheers
Paul

Gutted for you mate!

With a bit of luck you could get a good nearlly new Cupra for 15ish k remap to just as much as a S3 and when your flush again get a LSD fitted

Very nice quick drive , interior is not as good aas the S3 .

A 57 plate "Old" one!! How often do you guys change cars!!!!!!!!!

Yes, nice that mate!

Think i'd maybe go down the 'Safe' golf route, or older A3.

I'm selling my 05 Black Golf GTI to buy an S3 - might be some potential there... But probably a long shot.

Yes, possibly!!

Could you send me the details of your car mate and a coupelof photos??, even if you don't have mine and I like yours, there could be a deal to be had??

Lee

gutted mate
having to shift you S3 after 2 months is a kick in the balls.

what happened:wtf:

Its just Nuts and bolts at the end of the day Lee.

It must have been a hard decision but theres more important things eh :icon_thumright:

Lee,

Sorry to threadjack, can you tell me more on the "APR Hi Pressure Fuel Pump + Stage 2 Software"?

How different is it compared to just a remap? Did you have exhaust mods as well?

Thanks in advance.

I feel for you having to get rid of the car but like others have said, it's only a big piece of metal. I'm sure you have more worth while priorities!
In your position going from an S3 i'd go for the golf GTI as a cheaper alternative. The A3 s-line might look and feel a bit too conservative and understated coming from an S3. Definitely stick with a golf so to make sure there's not too big a drop in interior and build quality.
Must say i haven't seen many new shape R32's at the 15K mark?
A nice low milage GTI with leather would be my choice. I went for the quattro A3 2.0T S-line because i wanted a good mix of prestige, sporty-ness, 4WD and relatively economical while remaining understated.... You might be looking for something a bit different though.

Either way...Can't go wrong with a golf in that price range.

Paul.

A MarkIV Golf R32 was on sale at Bedford VW only last September for £15500. They're holding their prices very well.

If its just a 12month stopgap and to minimise depreciation, you can get a MK5 Gti with high motorway miles (80Kish - 05 Plate), for 11K!
