I'm not a football fan, but couldn't miss the story about the Arsenal footballers broken leg. That hurts! I suffered a similar break as a teenager playing rugby. Both tib and fib were snapped and spent months with my leg pinned externally. Took over a year to get back to full use. Luckily I made a full recovery, I hope he's as lucky as I was.

I'm sure Roy Keane inflicted a similar injury on someone years ago, and he's never played again.

I think that's what annoys me the most about football. 98% of the times a players goes down clutching his leg and wailing like a banshee, and he's hardly made contact! Is there any chance that an injury like this will make players think twice about play-acting? I doubt it!

Yeah, I'm an Arsenal supporter myself, and i think its awful.. I doubt he'll be back to his best again.. All because of one careless tackle. Martin Taylor will hardly get anymore than a three match ban either. Which is unfair as Eduardo is going to miss the rest of the season and the euro champs.. and probably longer!

here's a video and pictures..
It's quite sickening, so don't look if you're squeemish!

Just an unfortunate accident.
Football is a fast game and unfortunately Eduardo was a little to fast for Taylor.
I am pretty sure Taylor was absolutely gutted when he saw the result of his challenge.

Yeah he did look gutted and i do understand it could have been an accident,

However, why did he have his studs up..? why was he aiming halfway up Eduardos lower leg? You don't even do that if you're going for the ball! which just in my opinion, was very careless... well and about 60 thousand+ other gunners..

I had football yesterday.. and i was suddenly very aware of my ankles!!

I'd heard it was bad but having looked at the vids & pics of it im left feeling a little sick, and this coming from a bloke who's just watched Rambo 4 as well!!!! Probably one of the nastiest breaks i've ever seen, the bone has splintered out of the skin which will need a lot of metal to pin back together and Eduardo will be lucky to play again in my opinion. The thing is, if this happened out in the normal world Taylor would be slapped with an ABH charge, but I doubt we'll be seeing anything more than a ban for a reckless challenge. Very wrong, these sorts of incidents should be liable to criminal proceedings in my opinion, you'd think twice about going in with your studs up aimed at someones shins like this wouldnt you?! Luckily this dosent happen that often but its nasty when it does. Anyone remember Cisse a few years back snapping his leg at the start of the season, how many replays in slow motion were splashed over the telly?!!

ps im a Liverpool fan, im just sickened by bad football practices no matter who's involved!!

Im not a premiership fan, the real football is in the championship *ahem* but from that clip, it doesnt look like Taylor went in to damnage the guy? Was that the case??

Apparently Taylor is distraught ! yeah.. but back in training today, with his little three match ban.
Like Nickynibbles said, had this of happened in normal circumstances, he would be charged with ABH..
I think it is VERY unfair on Eduardo that Taylor will be playing for the next year.. with out a fine as far as i'm aware! Eduardo also was just getting settled in for Arsenal too, and cost them 15million..

yeah, its tough...

and ABH.... it'd be GBH with a broken bone like that!!

It's been years since I played, but I never aimed a tackle at the top quarter of the ball. If the ball had been next to Eduardo's foot, I'm sure Taylors foot would have gone over the top of the ball. His studs hit him half way up his shin. Surely you aim for the middle or even lower portion of the ball which would have made contact with his ankle area. I think they should have video reviews of games and issue red cards for takles where the base of the boot is involved. They do it in rugby.

it was on central news tonight that taylor is getting hate/death mail,
apparently the reaction from the croatia fans where Eduardo's from, is they are calling for taylor to be executed???????????????? wtf, or banned for life
they reckon he did it because england got beaten by croatia and it was his revenge.....................get a life idiots

yes its not nice and i hope he recovers but seriously executed?

My opinion is that it was a football incident, this is the risk they take when they get on the field and are getting paid upwards of £30k+ a week. Of course I wouldn't wish it happen to anyone, but it's already happened, and unfortunately, there's no rewind button, so all these death threats and 'he should not play again' quotes are just plain pathetic.

:tocktock: thats really sad.

I had great respect for Croatian fans from the Euro championships when they were playing at Hillsborough... they were well chilled and up for a good time and new it was about football and only football...

Yet again this is the sad reality of football, its played by morons and supported by bigger morons.
