Anyone know of any Audi specialists or garage in the Belfast area?
Don't have much faith in the Local Audi dealer...(or the bank balance!!)

Having a problem when starting off, when warm mostly. The engine seems to loose power / revs die and almost stalls, fuel econ aint great ( 275 to a full tank for a A3 '97 1.6 on extra urban)

Have recently replaced a head gasket and a temp senser, and cleaned the MAF. Wondering if the throttle body could be cause, I also a get a random 3 beep warning sound but no engine warn light..... !

Would like to get it on the computer but not sure if there is an independant capable of sorting me out....

thnaks in advance....

Hi, I've had a similar problem on my '00 1.6. It seems to be something of a characteristic on these engines, the TBs tend to be a bit troublesome. I've found that a good clean and a reset on the throttle body can help, but if it deteriorates much further, a new TB could be called for. I live in Dublin, but the specialist I go to is actually in Cork, which is about 250km from here, but as you're a further 180km away it might be a bit out of the way for you though!! :)

....but Cork's just down the road from belfast!!! ... ...:gaehn: ...:lazy:

thanx anyway, I mite just start scouring the yellow pages and ask the garages if they have any xp with audi's.

Been thinking its the throttle body as the throttle pedal sometimes seems to pull away from you when idling, an odd characteristic if u ask me and the throttle response just aint great.

but cheers....

We've all driven crazy distances before in some motoring adventure or other, but it is a bit far for a temperamental TB :)

It could be worth asking the GTI NI lads, there's sure to be someone local who knows their VAG engines. A3s are just Golfs in a nice dress anyway :sly: :)

Agreed entirely, it's a small thing that should have been completely avoidable....AFAIK the similar 8V fitted to the A4 doesn't have anywhere near the amount of TB issues that can befall the A3. Apparently they had some trouble getting the 8V through tougher EU emissions rules, which contributed to the odd TB design - but that doesn't help us much!

Right Perry,
There is a specialist up in Carryduff, another new place at the old Enkalon factory at Antrim behind Junction one.
A number of collegues swear by Kerbside beside the city hospital.
Haven't used any of these myself so can't really comment,

Hope this helps

Mike
