Hi,
I would like to ask for a request.
Can people with Xenon + on their A3 confirm that when you switch your lights on it does a little self test? I.E moving up and down then perhaps swivil slightly left and right?

Thanks

Just so you know DrNutta you don't need to start a new thread every time for a new question. Try to keep similar stuff on the same page or important threads get push further down the page unnecessarily. This forum is pretty good for answering questions, just be patient.

I have Xenon plus on my A3 and they like all cars sold in the UK market with xenons are equipped with 'auto-levelling' as standard to prevent dazzling to oncoming traffic...

This is because you have no control over your headlight beam angle as you would normally via the dash rheostat or similiar so the system automatically componsates for different loads in the car...

On the A3 and every car i've driven with xenons they perform a 'self-test' upon switch on to level the headlight beam correctly, this is the up/down movement you can notice, not sure as to the self-test function on cars with adaptive lights tbh as mine does'nt have them but it's conceivable that they may do a left/right check as well?

This is the 2007 passat from the other thread, is this what you mean?

To be honest not really sure.
I order the adaptive Xenons and my only comparison is my girlfriends a4 with adaptive which does a little self test when you switch it on.

Mine on the other hand does not move at all... even at start.

I am sorry.
I will be more alert next time. Just worried that a 1k option is not working properly.

mine self test and readjust even if I am parked on a mild slope. If I am parked on the flat then they dont readjust. HTH!

I just have xenon + and the self test is just an up and down motion.

Yep, they do. I tried to video but it didn't come out very well in the rain / dark!

Mine start off level ( before starting the car ), when started they move down then back up to level and then both lights move to point towards the center and then towards the outside, then back to straight.

It's not the same as the video posted earlier, it's a lot more subtle.

Mine are adaptive xenons, I guess normal ones don't do the left / right movement.

I have Xenon +, it does the self leveling vertically. For Adaptive Xenon they self adjust horizontally as well.

I ordered adaptive lights as well, but i cant seem to notice the startup test?

Is it done with the engine on or off? Immediately after inserting the key?

Is there anyway using vag-com to check if I have that module?

Any why are the lights in that video so bright immediately after starting? Mine takes a while to get to full brightness.

I have adaptive and it does the up and down self test when you switch them on, mine take a few seconds to get to full intensity, i think this is quite normal

Minedo the up down / left right twitch, then turn from a blue colour to a bright white over about 3 seconds as they reach temperature. Mine are the adaptive, steering sensitive xenons.

Hi,

I can confirm that they do this movement and turn from blue to white as above.

Very cool actually

Am I missing anything here? It just shines at that spot, no startup movement, nothing.

my procedure = Key in, turn to on-position, switch on low beam, switch on main beam

Or do I need the engine to be on?

Does the car only auto level/sweep once a day? or every startup?
Can I check via vag-com?
