Is ti worth just getting the rear ARB replaced with an R32 version from VAG. Or should I do both, i've read the other recent post, but still a little confused as to wether or not i'd get any benefit from just doing the rear. (On a tight budget at the moment).

How much bigger is the R32 item?

It'll help for sure...

But on standard suspension (if that's what you have) it'll still roll and flow about all over the shop at the front...none the less, a larger rear bar will improve the feel.

Don't forget you'll need the relevant bushes too (you shouldn't need the clamps...they are the same.

If you are on a budget, I'd try it and see how you get on...it certainly can't be worse..

I think I'll go for the R32 rear with uprated bushes and Neuspeed 22mm front. Do you have a part number for the R32 ARB?

I don't have ETKA to hand..sorry.
Someone must have it though?
Where's Gambba / Drill when you need them? Never around when you want them...but making plenty of noise when you don't...

As for the camber I'll suck it and see, going for the maximum I can get without pulling bits off (or pulling mechanics off)!

You only need to loosen the 3 balljoint securing bolts under the bottom arm, and give ita tap outwards with a hammer...no need to pull them off!

As for the mechanic...yeuk!
Not a nice thought!

Im setting off to awesome to get this sorted out today, will let you know how it is later.

Hi i think i might have a problem with mine or maybe my tyre bars im getting alot of noise and can feel a knocking on the car when going around tight corners at low speed i changed the wheels and suspension but not arb or tie arms any ideas

using the 19mm rear (r32) with standard front may cause the back end to step out easily on lift-off. the r32 front end is far too stiff for the front of the s3, even with the 19mm rear.
you will get worse understeer.

sensible options are:
16mm rear, 19mm front (factory)
19mm rear (r32 or neuspeed) and 20mm front (later tt225 type)- this MAY work but i havnt tried it

better still is neuspeed front and rear 19mm and 22 front - this combo leaves the rear 1.7 times stiffer relative to the front and the front 1.7x stiffer compared to the 15/19 factory setup.

the r32 rear is about 75+ from a stealer, where as the 16mm is only 40+. the neuspeed rear is about 120+ and the front is 150+ i think

neuspeed do a 24 or 25mm front which you definately dont want...

the neuspeed bars also come with stiffer silastic bushes that take up much quicker than the factory rubber - this mkes the steering much sharper. the bushes sometimes squeak - my new neuspeed ones sqeaked at the front until awesome rapacked them with copperslip but the rear ones were quiet.

i did the 16mm rear then changed to neuspeed front and rear and it gives a much better improvement than the the effect of lowered spring and koni dampers (although my suspension was only 22k miles old when i changed)
