...Should it have any?

Symphony Head Unit, nothing when faded to rear position.

Only got car today, seems odd there are grilles but no sound.

Yeah you should definetley have speakers in the rear and also a subwoofer in the boot. Are they bose speakers? (should have a bose badge on the grilles if they are).

ive got an 1999 a4 avant non bose and i dont have any speakers in my rear doors. Only front door and subwoofer behind panel in the boot

Mate, ive got a 99.5 a4 avant, theres def rear door speakers which are 6.5" , im in the process of taking all the audi ***** out, done the fronts already, had to make new speaker adaptors out of mdf, by the way in my car the front speakers were 5" blaupunkts and 1" blaupunkt tweeters and not the nokia 4" ones:confused: ...

I wonder is it possible to fit the avant sub woofer in my saloon?
Has anyone here done that?

Not worth it - it's totally feeble.
You can get a stealth sub enclosure for the B5 and fit a decent 8" sub and a seperate amp which will transform the sound.

Where do you get the enclosures from Andy?
Got any pics of your install?

Non-Bose, nothing there for sure and no sub, I don't think either. Or CD changer, the ********, but it does have the CD symphony unit.
I know the standard stuff will be crap anyway, the wires should be there for the rears so i'll just buy some - what size are they? 5.25" ?

seems strange you have no sub and rear speakers?!?!?!?
just finished my mini install in my avant, put in infinity front comps 5.5" and 6.5" infinity coaxs and a pioneer deh-p65bt head unit, all speakers wired to the head unit so had to butcher the iso plug about but sounds much better, still got the standard sub in at the moment, awaiting new sub to come, will then run that and re-wire the front comps to an alpine amp, so should sound even better..

Hm, no changer either, probably got pinched to go on ebay!
What size are the rears then and where does the sub go? - in the right cubby hole?
It's alll empty, CD changer wire still inside foam..

The rears run off the same amp as the sub, so if you don't have the sub you can't just replace the rears without an additonal amp. All Audi headunits only have an internal amp for the front speakers, so you need an amp to run rears.

Here's my stealth sub in my B6 Avant

Auto Acoustics do fibreglass stealth enclosures but I think they're only for the B5 saloon, not cheap either. Much better to make your own and in the Avant you should have enough space to be able to use MDF.

rear door speakers are 6.5" and the sub/amp is behind the left hand boot panel....mine didnt have a cd changer either but the cable is in situ tho..

Can the amp / sub be seen through the door bit in the panel or not? Haven't really had a nose, just noticed it's all empty where i reckoned the cd changer should be.
