hi, just received the concert removal keys and had to test them, and they worked.

problem, they are fast in the HU now...

how do i remove them, don't want to force them.

thanks

you have to take the headunit out (past the clips anyway) to remove the removal keys. Once they're in, they're used as anchors to help pull the stereo out. Depending on the quality of the removal keys though, be wary of using them to pull out the headunit.

hi thanks madvw. i did have the HU out, but they still wouldn't come out of their slots. anyway, i pulled on them a bit harder, didn't want to, and they've come out now. they were ebay keys, and i think a bit crap. oh well.

How much did you pay for the keys as I need some and who on ebay did you buy them from...?

Any help would be greatly appreciated...

sent u a pm as i'm not sure about advertising on here.

If they're crap, like mine were, and bend easily when wiggling (very worrying moment there), then I took the head unit out completely, then using something else, pushed the retaining clips on the side which were being held in by the keys a little further in to release pressure on the keys, and the just slid out.

I got them off ebay and they were grand, I can pm you the company i got them through, once they are autoleads they are grand.

Hi faisal
You can buy the genuine Audi radio removal keys from Vagparts and they are definitely worth the cash. I tried a set from Halfords first and they did not fit securely into the radio slots so you risk damaging the head unit while trying to pull it out if it's a tight fit.
Ref the link below, the keys are listed in the product overview , sat nav parts, manuals and tools section. They show a set of 4 but I'm sure you can buy 2 if thats what you need

I got mine from demon audio - then a mate used them and I haven't seen them since!!!

Here's a link to their removal keys

I think they're under £3 with 75p next day shipping - through the post but what do you expect for 75p? Great site too.

Hope that helps!

Don't use the keys to pull the Hu out, just use them to release the clips then push the HU out from behind. So many people have knackered their HU's by pulling on the keys or worse got the HU jammed in the dash with knackered clips. It takes 5 minutes to remove the glovebox, which then allows you access to the rear of the HU.

force it from behind by removing the glovebox, or you can prise off the front as it is only clipped on, this will give you access to the damaged spring clips.
