Well, picked it up Saturday morning, and have to say im chuffed to bits! Few things though, hoping you guys could shed some light?!

1) Knocking noise coming from passenger side front wheel. I had test drove it a few times before I bought, but where I live we still have cobbled roads in places. No joke! I have done the usual 'I have no car experience' diagnosis, and kicked the tyre, and the wheel makes a slight knocking noise.

2) Farting BOSE. Going from a car with Focal speakers and Phoenix Gold amps, to factory BOSE I am struggling with the quality and bass, and it does distort on rumbling b-lines, and im craving volume. Where is the sub(s) located, and are the speakers easy to change? Ive spied the ones on the back parcel shelf and will be having them out soonish.

3) Tinny rattling noise coming from exhaust on idle and low revs. Only just started to notice this, as i rarely travel minus tunes. I want a full system V soon, so hopefully this will go. Im tempted with a Scorpion, as they are vastly cheaper than Milltek, and had a Scorpion on my 206 with zero probs.

4) Unwelcome attention from boy racers. No excuse, lads in chavtoasters thinking they can challenge the finest sports saloon!

Cheers guys!

PS The 18yr old did go someway to keeping my mind of the S4 until I picked it up, now I got the car I cant keep my mind off her!! :asskicking:

Sorry - pics to come! It had been treated to a life of car washes, so tomorrow if the weather is kind I will be claying and 3-stepping her! Also treat the leather to a clean, even though that has been well looked after!
Watch this space!

Sounds great :) the nocking is common on the A4s i think if i rem correctly it is the control arms.

There maybe a groub buy coming on the Milltek ;) so could be at a more aligned price with the Scorpion if you can wait that long?

18yr old huh :) are these what the pics are of?

the audio is a pig to upgrade unless you're dumping all the original components as the Bose system uses 2 ohm speakers. the amp is in the boot, passenger side in front of the compartment that houses the cd changer, tv tuner etc.

the rattle from the exhaust is the most worrying bit. prefacelift cars had a weak spot in that the exhaust manifolds are a sleeved construction to prevent ot limit heat transfer, the inner sleeve comes adrift and causes the rattle, the worry is that bits will break off and exit through the turbos. facelift cars have RS4 manifolds and don't suffer from this, if it's a facelift that's rattling it's the heat shield on top of the turbo, you can cure it by pressing down on it with a bar to "wedge" it back into place. fyi a full system wouldn't include manifolds so wouldn't cure this on either car

Mines a facelfit, so hopefully this will be easily resolved!!

Got my mechanic having a shufters today, along with a trip for some new tyres, then will be valeting her!

Pics will be of the car sorry guys.

PS Thanks for the very knowledgeable responses!

PPS Group buy hey, like it! My mate can get Milltek backboxes for £585 inc VAT but with a 10% discount. Any idea on pricing?

Not as such yet just trying to sort it all out i only have pricces in for 1.8Ts at the moment. Will keep everyone posted.

What spoiler is that?

Standard Audi jobby. Cheers for the comments guys, im seriously in love with it, I even drove out last night and drank coke and j20 so i could cruise, well, until about 11pm when I dumped the car at home and got trolleyed!

Took my old man out in it yesterday and scared the pants off him, his is the A3 in the pics, and he thinks thats quick haha! Showed him how we roll with both turbos at full blend :rockwoot:

Tempted to have a darker tint on the windows, seen some pics of a black S4 like mine with smoked windows and it looks sweet!

Nearly chinned a girl I work with Friday, she has a Scooby and told me to bin my lip spoiler and put a picnic table style on the back, I was like WTF??!!

Oh, and if anyone was wondering, an S4 will beat an Elise in straight line drag haha!

Very nice...

If you can afford it get yourself a full set of control arms... between 400-500 quid. Diagnosing which arm is causing the noise is virtually impossible, dont throw your money down the drain with dealers... they had me spend nearly 2k on arms with them then finally said its the rack. I went to a specialist £130 on one arm fixed it. Dealer would not refund me, I got some money back of Audi UK after 6 months, 3 letters and several phone calls.

Anyway, the car looks immac... I hope you get all the usuals checked out... MAF, DV's boost leaks - all of that being well you should have a happy S4 life ahead of you :)

I'm with Zero, get it plugged into Vagcom and run a full fault check, replaced exhaust gas temperature sensor, lambda probe and MAF on mine the other week and oh my lord what a difference they made! drove like a new car, so much quicker and so much more pull, must've been knackered since I had it without me knowing for 6 months! Well worth a check.

Im reckoning its the passenger front, as with a bit of tyre kicking it seems to be the rascal making the racket!

Ive heard of this VAG unit, how do I get access to one?

Just been covering a fight in Nottingham and really enjoyed driving on a Sunday night, when im normally hole dup in the boozer! Was behind a sick 430 spyder coming out the multi storey and have to say his exhaust sounded unreal, I need me some louder cans!!

Only been pulled once by the peelers so far too, being 31 and looking 18 has some advantages, but I must look like a twoc'er!!

Look on ebay for vagcom leads. Should be able to pick one up fairly cheap with free basic copy of the software, thats all you'll ever need. Needs running on a laptop really though for ease of use in the car.

Check here too, helped me out loads on understanding how it all works, plus they hav a free shareware download too I believe.

After driving a shed load of miles since claying and 3-stepping the beast saturday, I took her round to my mun and dads to have a quick wash, and look at the results!! Meg's tech wash and then wax!
Loving a black car! Tmpted with a darker window tint, opinions??

VAG-Com on your own is okay, but you cannot perform a full leak test and diagnosing a failing MAF is not straightforward. Gauranteed you will have 1 of it not all of the following faults:

MAF (And potentially as a result failing EGT)
Diverter Valve(s) shot
Boost Leak

The last one of course means your turbos could last you a week or 3 years... either way will result in a hefty bill. For peace of mind get it checked by a true 2.7t specialist.

If they do not connect a compressor to your inlet to test for boost leaks and also go for a drive with you flat out and a laptop connected - they dont know what they are looking for.

Good luck :)

Got a trip planned down to MRC in the next few weeks. Dont want the turbos going bang!
All input greatly received, as a new guy to VAG its good to find some quality input, rather than, 'Needs a bigger spolier' kind of sites!
