Price was £25,000 from an Audi dealership....managed to get them down to £22500. Is this still too much cash for this model?

Can anyone advise?

Sounds too dear to me. I would've thought sub 20k would be closer to the mark.

I'm sure the Gurus will be along soon to give some real pricing advice.

Sub £20k?!?! Really!!?? What do you think the previous owner got back for the trade in? Any tips of getting the price down lower? Already got them down £2500.

I think £22500 for a 41k miles from an Audi stealer is not too bad. You've got Warranty peace of mind and there's not many 53 plates around with less than 60k miles. Sounds like a good deal to me. I've been keeping my eye on S4's around that price bracket for the last couple months. Enjoy it you jammy get! I've been warned about the MPG thou so get used to regular visits to your local petrol station.:respekt:

Ok, thanks.

Looking to use it for daily driving to the office, which is mostly motorway driving. What sort of actual MPG will I be looking at at crusing at 70 with the cruise control on? Shes an auto.

If you're worried about MPG consumption in an S4, I'd recommend not buying it.

I'm not worried about the MPG, just curious as to what the car realistically returns when driven with care.

So around 28-30mpg should be expected on long motorway runs sitting at 70?

What are they like on tyre? Life expectancy?

Must confess I've never got close to achieving 28-30 mpg, more like 18-22mpg. But the grin I get everytime i start up the V8 engine makes it all worth it. And I would also struggle to sit at 70 on the motorway - it just sounds and feels so damn good when pushed :arco:.

Can't give any advice on tyres as I've only done around 8k on the current set P Zero Rossos but they are still good so far.

Oh, and mines a manual Avant if tha makes much difference to economy.

But go for it, you won't regret it

Chris

Are that any V8 friendly insurers out there? Been quoted £780 fully comp by the AA. Not bad for a 31 year old with 7 points for speeding! Any got cheaper?

This one owner late '04 54 plate car has just sold. Asking price was 22k. CLICK A great spec and one of the last B6's too.

Or this Avant?

Dealer or not, I'll let you do the math..........

again i think this is very reasonable finding good low mileage s4,s is becoming hard nowadays
autos are even harder to find and more expensive than manuals dealers will obviously be more expensive but come with the cast iron warranty
ive had mine nearly twelve months and im as pleased as punch with it
i actually managed an average of 30.2 mpg on the way back from scotland
but for average use it sits around 18-22 mpg
if your planning on doing lots of miles the fuel will be expensive

I'm only planning around 12-13k per year in the S4, so running costs shouldnt be too bad. I have an '03 VW Lupo TDI Sport to run around the town in. Fab we cars!! Have a tuning module on her to give 90bhp, and still returns a staggering 65-68mpg!! Have had 75mpg on a trip down south in her sitting at 70mph all the way. Would definately recommend one as a run around motor!

I just got my S4 Avant last week from Audi dealer £23,500.It's an 04 plate with 42k.Got them to put a full set of new tyres on it before I parted with the cash plus a full tank of fuel and a years road tax. They did want 25k for it but it all comes down too what they laid out for it so you could still get money off what they want.
I found that if you tell them if they can't get the price down any furth then you will walk away and get a car some other place tend's to work!!
As for mpg the worst I have seen on mine is 4.5mpg with the foot flat to the floor through second and third. But avarage 18-24mpg.

Hope this helps.

Cool thanks Ringo.

Any comments on the tip tronic box? Good...bad..ugly?

Bought mine 6-7 months ago, and it's still only got 45k miles on it. Just changed all 4 tyres, so not sure how long they last just yet (£500 all in Goodyear F1s).

Manage an ave 21mpg, has been seen as high as 26.7 whilst running through long roadworks at 50mph, and as low as 16mpg on a rather amusing blat with an M3, at rather alot more mph...

Even at 70, you will not see 30mpg on this car - EVER! At 70 I would imagine you'll be seeing 25-26mpg, but what's the point?

It's an amazing engine and you'll love it.

Will be selling mine shortly, and am hoping for £19k...

Why you selling her Stoakseya4?

I see you have fitted a K&N to your S4. Did it make much of a difference to the induction noise?

i love the tiptronic
for some reason though you only have 5 gears in sport but 6 in normal drive
i wouldnt go back to a manual now after having had one of these

Bought mine about 9 months ago from a dealer it's a 53 Manual and I paid £20k it's now done 43k miles and I've added RSN-e bot if I got north of £17 on a trade in I'd be over the moon.

Had 4 new tyres yesterday, Pirelli P Zero Rosso total bill £720 eith alignment about £150 per corner fitted, I'm in Milton Keynes so my last 2 fronts lasted about 8000 miles, interestingly the fitter (Pirelli Performance Centre) suggested I come back after 6000 miles and they would swap them front to back to even out the wear.

Agree with previous comments on fuel around town I get sun 20mpg but factored across a year if you are doing 10-12k miles the performance for the cost of these cars far out weights that cost IMHO.

Everytime I think about trading it in I just can't see the point.:rockwoot:

New pics in my gallery today

To be honest I haven't really noticed any difference in the noise. Cost about £90 I think, but will never need changing again...

Keep having 2nd thoughts about the car, as previous posts will explain/describe - boring everyone stupid! Trouble is, it's pretty well-specced apart from the SatNav not being fitted, and I really don't know what I'd rather be driving. I keep thinking of something a little more sensible like a chipped 3.0tdi, but then everytime I start her up, I just grin, and gun it! For the money there's nothing quite like it.

Think I'll miss the power the most, so we'll see. Might be an RS4, or maybe the remapped/Milltek route and keep the S4, maybe the 3.0tdi or even (gulp!) a 535d or a CLS...!!!

Please - no swearing !!

or even (gulp!) a 535d or a CLS...!!!

stoaksey your having a bad dream dont worry youll wake up in an minute and everything will be fine and the s4 will still be parked on your front

paid 23k for mine 3mths ago, ins is £900 fc, mpg is 18 - 26, nothing has gone wrong with it and its done 55k now. i love it to bits! just get a milltek for it asap!

Still thinking on it. Had the Milltek on order a month ago (£750) but crap service from Milltek and a large order to the US meant waiting and waiting and waiting a bit more, so gave up and got a refund!

Took a 535d out 2 weeks ago and man... BMW diesels are very very good.

However good the engine is I still can't look at the 5 series and think " Hmmmm there's a lovely looking car!" so that alone will stop me from buying one. Maybe a 335i remapped for sh&ts and giggles?

Did anyone see 5th gear last night with an S5 vs a 335i coupe ? Interesting indeed...

Cheers but that's for an RS4, not an S4...

Still thinking on it though!

Does anyone know the difference on a B7 S4 ? Other than body and tailpipes, oh and the door blades being body coloured too.
