modified polo

hi guys. this is a bit embarassing andi know similar things have happened to some of us. i have a 99 s3 210hp, it is standard. i was on my local bypass doing 50mph(speed cameras) when all of a sudden this car gets right up to my rear bumper. i couldn't quite work out what it was but it looked like a newish golf or polo.
so, in third at 50mph i hit the loud pedal hoping to blow him into the distance but as the revs increased he was well plant to my rear. so i pulled into the left hand lane still going for it and this guy blasted past me like i was stood still. then i realized it was a POLO:wtf:
there was no way of catching him but i was well and truly confused.surely even a polo gti would not stand a chance. i came off at the next exit where he was waiting, so i pulled alongside him and asked the obvious,WHAT THE HELL HAVE YOU GOT UNDER THERE????!!
he said it was an s3 engine and to prove it he speed off onto the round about doing mach 3. i heard it running and it did sound like 20v turbo, has anyone ever seen another one of these? the car was a 52plate.
GUTTED!!!!!!!!:ermm:
 
The new gti is a 20v turbo engine 150bhp standard i think but with a remap and a few bits it would **** all over a standard s3.

All i remember they were near the tent to where we were, and they got chucked out, because he was reving the engine and making flames comes out the back

Think i heard that him and his g.f took a loan out to pay for the modification

Oh dear, glad he doesn't live round here! Its bad enough getting left standing by A3's in this neck of the woods ;), don't need polo's doing the same! :faint:
 
Was it a grey one? There is some lad that lives somewhere near me that drives it like he's stolen it. I presume it must be a remapped 1.8t

There's a black mkIV Polo with red interior and Porsche Teledial rims that runs a 300bhp S3 engine....not much chance of keeping up with that!!
 
I had a Corsa keeping up with me the other day, that was embarrasing.

Mind, with several S3 owners on here as witness, I regularly have Micras overtake me, I'm a good driver, I drive slow on the driveway.

The girlfriend is interested in one of the 1.8T Polos, which are understandably mega fast and amazing once remapped. Not sure I'd trust the brakes without upgrading them though....
 
My god i'd be totally gutted, but how good must the polo driver feel, if i had a polo and i whipped an S3 i'd have pulled over to brag too ha ha!!
 
If the Polo is that fast, he probably doesnt need to brag, as hes more than capable of doing it time and time again.

A guy on one of the VW forums has a Mk1 Golf with steel wheels and big brakes hidden behind, it looks a total mess but if you look careful you can just about see the intercooler for the 1.8T.

There is a corsa b near me with a calibra turbo engine and 6 speed box running just over 300bhp,that thing is very fast.Looks like a standard gsi too.
 
God i hate the old corsa's, horrible little things lol
 
well id rather a corsa keeping up with me than a reliant robin:busted_cop:

This one is light blue,its a standard vauxhall colour

Theres plenty of very quick driveway built vauxhalls around here V6s in tigras? and c20let's in corsas and tigras silly fast :eek:

Theres quite a few turbo'd 20v and uprated G40 polos on ED38 and Club-Polo and they are quick!! A friend craig had a dubsport built 20v polo which was ridiculously fast! Sadly it was smashed abroad through no fault of his own :(
 
There's a ruddy Lupo with an S3 engine that does the circuit round my way. I've yet to see it whilst i've been in my car but i don't fancy my chances in the dry TBH!!
