I'm new to the forum having recently bought an a3 turbo- hi everyone! Lots of good info that's been useful.
I've set about the modifications starting with an oettinger body kit. Next step is some wheels and I want to keep a 'class' look to the car rather cheap aftermarket stuff. I'm thinking of getting the RSTT wheels that are slightly different to the RS4 wheels eveyone sells. A good choice or is there something else I should consider?
Seen some 18in original wheels with Pirelli Rosso rubber for £1195- good deal or not?
Am i better off going to 18's than 17's because not many of you guys go with 17's. is there any particular reason for this?

What do people think to the RS6 replica wheels. Will they keep the 'class' look I want or look a bit cheap and max powery?
 
I have 2 12" subs and 2 amps in the boot, plus spare wheel mate so will sit a bit lower. I also have not upgraded the shocks at all.
 
I also understand Eibachs come in two different drops.
What are these?
Which do I go for to avoid having the car with 18s looking like its a 4x4 yet still having a comfortable ride? What mm drop should I need to get the car to sit right.
It looks pretty good with the standard setup and I would like a similar stance for the car with 18s.
Probably looking at H&R/Eibach springs with Bilstein shocks as its cheaper than buying a kit.
All help much appreciated (and needed).
 
As ive said mate, look at my pic. Its on standard shocks with 50mm lowering springs from H&R. If thats the way you want it to look, then i recommend those springs /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif No matter what though, dont look at it straight away and think 'oh my god its far too high' you have to give the springs time to settle in
 
Stuart you have the 50mm H&R but whats the other size they come in? What is the smallest drop from Eibach springs? Different people telling me different things.

The 50mm drop looks excellent but I'm probably going for a slightly smaller drop cos the oettinger body kit I have makes the car pretty low. The last thing I want to do is scrape speed humps etc by going too low.

Also where am I going to find the cheapest prices for the H&R?eibach springs and bilstein shocks?

I've got the H&R OE sport springs which give the smallest dropat 25mm front and 12mm rear, but then I have the mother of all speed humps that I have to get over to get in and out of our road.

H&R also do a Sport kit which gives 35mm front and 30mm rear

or the Race sprngs (it think thes are the ones Stuart has) which are 50mm front and 30mm rear

all figures are aproximate but not far off.

Like the sound of the sport springs like yours.
Does the 25/12mm give you the high back end (i.e nose down look)as is the case when having eibach springs?
How much difference did your springs make?
There must have been difference in ride comfort

as you can see from my scientific measuring it is just about possible to get 2 fingers between the wheel and the arch

as for the ride the H&r srpings are progressive so when driving normally they are just like stock but the more you through it the harder they get.
