New Clutch Parts Req

right getting to the point where im gonna get my performance clutch installed :) ..what parts do i need? ive already got the following:

Presure plate (sachs)
Friction plate (sachs)
Release Bearing (oem i assume)

is there anything else i need? the guy im gettin to fit it says he will need some oil...but i didnt think u'd loose any oil when changin the clutch. also is it worth changing the master cylinder while doin the job?

Gearbox comes off, so you'll need gearbox oil.

Which flywheel you using? Keeping the dual mass or getting a single mass steel version?
 
I was lead to believe the clutch slave cylinder is part of the release bearing assembly, however it seems more likely it is part of the fork assembly (makes more sense). Or, it could all be one assembly (bearing, cylinder and fork)

I recommend (as others do) the Motul Gear 300 oil, certainly made a difference when I changed it recently (smoother gear changes), currently on offer at http://www.opieoils.co.uk/performance_lubricants/motul.aspx
for £12.59 per litre.

How much were the clutch parts you bought and what power/torque are they rated at?
 
Slave cylinder is the release bearing. They class it as a concentric bearing. hould be able to get one from dealer or GSF

If its just for slip then you might not need a new flywheel.

How can a slave cylinder be a release bearing?

When I looked on etka it was difficult to distuingish if they were separate or not but regardless there HAS to be a slave cylinder to operate the mechanism.

Because I was told when I ordered all my stuff from both GSF and the guys that fitted the new clutch and flywheel
 
iv recently changed my clutch n flywheel to single mass and i would recommend it. my old flywheel was totally fubard. also the single mass flywheels have alot more uprated clutches available.
 
How hard is it to fit the clutch, do you need alignment tools etc?

Trying to keep costs down on mine...

I didnt know that A3's had them, but on most late Fords they have a bearing called a concentric slave cylinder, which as posted above, is the slave cylinder and realease bearing integrated into one.

as for the clutch i got it in a group buy on seat cupra..paid 400 quid delivered and its rated at 340lb/ft i think...should be enough i reckon.

as ive got the clutch i think im gonna stick with my dual mass flywheel...is there any gains in switchin to a single mass?

As you have already bought the clutch parts you will have to stick with your dual mass flywheel as for a single mass setup the parts are different.

Most commonly used is a G60 spec/design single mass flywheel (usually aluminium if you are going to the trouble of this conversion) with VR6 friction plate and I forget which car donates the cover.

AFAIK, you don't need to change the gearbox oil as it won't leak out when removing the box. It didn't on mine, but thats 2WD.
Maybe he wants to drain it to save on weight. Those boxes do weigh a bit.
