Well think it’s time to replace disc and pads all round.
Just been on a weekend run in the highlands with a few car guys and I think I need a new setup. They held up ok but started to fade and now it feels like a disc is warped.
Discs are factory 6 years old so not too bothered having to replace them.
Anyway rant over.
I’m looking for recommendations. Requirements are better than oe for fast roads. Never gonna track my s3. It’s more 99% taxi for kids and 1% me driving like I stole it.
Other thing is I don’t want rusty hubs so ideally one with a good coating.

Discs
The ones I’ve been looking at are the golf got club sport discs. Are these worth £500? Are they that good? Other similar discs are brembo xtra which is a similar drilled disc at less than half the price of the club sport. Also open to other suggestions.

Pads
One of my favourite from previous fast cars has been ferodo ds2500 so been looking at these for the fronts and maybe matching rears or or pads. Again, these are expensive and might be a little overkill.
Mate swears by ebc yellow stuff and has it on all his cars so that could be and option. Any other recommendations?

Also what good places to buy these, I’ve seen the club sport as low as £350 on eBay but don’t want to risk things like customers charges etc as the cheaper seems to come from Eastern Europe.

Thanks,

Al

Hi Al.

I put MTEC discs front and rear on my S3 last year. Drilled , slotted and vented. Mintex pads. Discs come in various coatings.

Purchased direct from them. Very helpful company.

A year on . Discs show barely any wear. Pads have lost maybe 10%.

Absolutely awesome stopping power, wrt or dry. No fade If braking hard. Honestly can’t recommend them enough.

I’m sure I only paid around £330 for the complete set, so if fitting yourself then a real saving on cash. Check them out …..

I went TRW discs all round (the ones with the black painted hubs). I went with solid discs over drilled/grooved.

Ferodo DS Performance pads on the front (very good!), Brembo Xtra pads on the back (I don't recommend these - VERY dusty), I'd just go OEM pads on the back

I changed mine in July last year I went for Brembo discs and pads all round
the hubs have a proper coating on them so there is zero rust which is important to me .
The stopping power is good but took around 500 miles to bed in properly .

overall really happy with them
