Aircon - worked this morning - not now!!

All,

Lovely time of the year to get this problem.

Got an A3 pre-facelift with climate control, the air-con was working beautifully this morning, but put it on later, and it didn't cool the air... asr3.

The only thing I did in the meantime was run the engine, stationary, with me in the car, air-con on for about 10 mins - worked fine then.

Next time I get in the car - no cooling.

Blowing hot. No chilling action.

Thoughts?
 
When mine packed up it was the clutch had fallen off the compressor???
 
Can you hear the compressor start when you switch the climate control on? If it's not coming on, it could be a few things. One of the most common is that the gas is low which triggers a switch to stop the compressor working.

If it's actually blowing hot air through, the temperature control flap could be stuck. I had the same problem in my B6 S4. They were quite easy to get to on the S4 although I'm not sure on an S3.
 
As has been said above

When the Aircon/Climate is turned on when the compressor kicks in the revs should pick and then when pulled drop off.

If this doesnt happen the compressor isnt kicking in which could mean low levels, maybe due to a leak?
