Koni FSD Shock Absorbers

ok i fitted the koni FSD and eibach prokit springs

WHAT a difference - very impressed with the better handling and the ride was NOT compromised

at £525 for the shocks and springs and £250 for the fitting they werent cheap but definitely worth doing

I am glad I didnt waste the money on a remap - the handling was far more important having had 3 S3's now both were previously remapped I can definitely recommend these shocks to all S3 owners

Great stuff, just what I wanted to hear...

So the girlfriend won't notice the difference in ride quality if I fit these on the sly? ;)

Where did you get them from?

Cheers,

ICE

was looking at these was going the billy route but the roads round here are pants so the FSD`s may be a better option.

Group buy ????? lol

i have these fitted to my car, great damper, and adjustable to suit your needs also :D

yeah, the bilstein B8's hopeless on poorly surfaced roads. I'd go FSD if i did it again.

Not sure if it's any help but the Koni coilovers give a great ride, firm when you need them to be but also livable when just mooching round town etc.

I have heard nothing but great results on the FSD`s and they are excellent with the Eibach pro springs
We pride ourselfs on the pricing of our FSD`s so have a look on here http://www.awesome-gti.co.uk/ and check out our prices
If I can help give me a shout back
Sarah

Thanks Sarah.

Any ideas how they perform with the H&R springs?

What are the chances of a group buy?

Sarah,

Any reason that all the good S3 parts (I'm talking suspension but I gues there are others) are listed under TT Mk 1 on your site and not under the A3 8L section ?

I ordered my Neuspeed ARBs from the TT section and I see I'd have to look there for the FSDs that match an S3 also....

I purchased them from Awesome - great price and service !

Have you got any pics spiker? i would like to see the ride height

Spiker,

Any reason why you didn't go for H&R springs? What is the drop of the Eibach Sport springs? Do Awesome offer a fitting service?

Any negative comments so far?

I'd also like to see some photos please.

Many thanks,

ICE

Is she not used to a frim ride then!? lol!

Hmmm ride height

interesting one this - I measured the sills before I had the mods done and they were approx 10cm off the floor

I was under the impression - according to Awesome that the FSD's would raise the height slightly but the eibach springs would then compensate for that slight raise and in fact overall it would lower the vehicle by prehaps 1-2 cm

NOT SO

my sills are now 13-14cm off the ground so ride height has increased. This initially concerned me but having driven the car I have no issues with it - the garage that fitted the stuff refused to accept that my ride height could have been as low as 10cm ( but I measeured it front and back twice before the work was done)

They still claim it is set up correctly and I must have misread the readings

So could someone here confirm the default ride height of a non- modified S3 - is 10cm right ? and is so how should I explain this to the garage ? They pointed out that if it had been 10cm my wheels would have been up into the wheel arches

To me this doesnt make sense the new road height of 13-14 seems fine for driving although I expected it to be 8-9 - handling is still very much improved but its bugging me about this garage - they so much as suggested I must have made a mistake with the measurements

Furthermore - I suspect as I use the car the height may drop a further cm or so - I am not too sure - we'll see but yes suprisingly the ride height has INCREASED

Any thoughts anyone ? - I would particularly like to proove to the garage that they are mistaken not me

I'd say there's no way the sills should be 100mm off the ground as standard.

You also need to remember tho that your original springs will sag alot as the car gets older.

If your car is 60K or older, then theres a very good chance the sills could have been only 10cm from the ground due to the completely knackered springs and shocks on your car.

The car had done 45k and had been looked after - the old springs and shocks still looked ok (physically no cracks or leaks)

It was 10cm off the ground !

Can anyone confirm their current ground clearance to compare ?

Hi
The FSD`s can make the ride height heigher
This is the way the shockers work with the valves
But then the springs will lower it
We have found that the springs if stated lowers 30mm will not lower the full 30mm
When fitted you will also see that the car will lower more slightly after it has settled down
Sarah

I was informed by a number of people that the H&R springs would be stiffer than the eibachs and I didnt want to compromise the comfort

Its not a track car and I do a great deal of town and motorway driving so maintaining the comfort was important whilst improving the handling round corners

no pics yet - not at home - will sort it at the weekend

As requested some pics of the FSD's and eibach prokit springs

How exactly do I upload them ?

Either upload em to thje gallery on here or go to www.imageshack.us and host them there. When you have the URL of the image you can pop it in a post in
img ] tags.... (but without the space I added to show the command)...

I've got FSD's on my S3, and some red springs (on the car when I bought it...) which I dont know what make they are. Car has been making a knocking noise on full lock, thought it would be top strut mounts or ARB bushes. Car has been checked out twice, and both times the guy (who is also a good friend) says it the spring moving on the shocker....any thoughts or views on this? Anybody know what springs they are? Should I be looking to change the springs? For info, the top legs look pretty new too......any advice welcome!

although thinking about it you might not see them as you cant log in as me ;) lmao

i'll figure it out in a mo

not much to see side on to be honest - if you get under the wheelarch you can see the shocks otherwise the car looks standard ;)

is the ride height the same then ??? even after its settled ???

just asking as im thinking of doing the same mod and already have the adjustable rear arms waiting to be fitted.

If I don`t need then with the eibach`s then I`ll sell them on :)

ok so this is a tricky one - its still not clear

tell you what - measure the height of your sills from the lowest point in the centre of the vehicle - midway under the door and we can compare !

take it from the lowest point as the sill goes underneath the vehicle

none of u guys use the forge adjustable tie rods when lowering ur car-so it cant be that necessary....?
