I have a Hirobo Shuttle (30) a Thunder Tiger Raptor 50 and a Hirobo Sceadu 50, lots of fun /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Which one do you have? Where do you fly?

If you can fly a Hummingbird\any small elec you will be able to fly a nitro model really easily, if you fancy having a go with one let me know. Is the Eolo a Robbe model? Not too clued up on the Elec side, nearly bought a Piccolo Pro a while back but ended up with a new radio instead /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I know what you mean about scaring the cat, i keep crashing my XRB Lama into the chinchilla's cage /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

I have been flying between Stokenchurch and Slough this year so not far away from you.

I have not been able to set up my Sceadu yet as i couldn't get it in the car, however i have just got an A4 Avant to replace the Cabriolet so i will be able to take all 3 out for walkies /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

The PCM9 is a real nice piece of kit, i was going to get one but got bored of waiting for the translation of the manual to get done. I have a JR X3810-ADT so buddy lead will work fine.

I get most of my stuff from Bob @ Skyline or Cyberheli in Hong Kong. They are really helpful at Skyline and for a smaller retailer they are very competitive. I also use Slough Radio Control but prefer to use Skyline now as Nick Moss who owns Slough also owns Ripmax, most of OS etc and i would sooner support Bob.

I'm not flying much at the moment as the weather is crap but would be interested in meeting up an having a look at the Eolo.

I'm still learning myself but will hopefully be into 3D and inverted circuits and hovering by the end of next season /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Take a look at Runryder it's full of yanks but there is some good info on just about every model.

WOW - I've always thought these were mega expensive, so havnt even bothered looking. But I've just had a look at the link. Theyre not that bad.

Mutley - how much did the hummingbird cost you. What does it include, is it a full kit or just the actual Heli?

R88per, Ball park for a 30 class starter outfit is about £600 with the starting equipment and reasonable radio etc. The radio gear the Mutley and I are using is about £500 on it's own but you don't really need it unless you really get into the hobby or have the money to go to it straight away.

They are alot of fun /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif one of these would have been ideal to keep Phall's ring closed on the Sunday AM following on from his Phal Korma /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Thanks for that Jon, I've been looking around the net, and have found a few places to source one. Looks like around the £300 mark for what I would need.

I think I'll stick with my original thought of a new toolbox off Santa, then wait till my birthday in February and get a better model / transmitter for around £500.

In the mean time I'll do some research and learn the basics of how the things work / stay in the air. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/blush2.gif

Had a couple of Rc cars in the past, preferred the nitro ones though. You cant beat the sound of those little high revving buggers. Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

Know what you mean about being addictive though, I know I'd want a better model after a few months and end up shelling out again, so I might as well wait a few months, learn a little and save the pennies then get the best I can afford at the time.
