Hi,

I have a bulb showing and beeping when i drive the car. I thought it was the back left brake light which did not ignite on pressing the pedal. I changed the bulb and still no luck - as anyone else had such an issue and how was it resolved, something tells me its a wiring fault, however is there a way to test this? I have changed my backlights to the newer versions, however these have been on for over a year.

On another note my temp gauge at times just stays on '0' even after like 15 mins of driving and on other occasions the dial is fine, this might be a sensor error or something to do with the wiring - any ideas?

I have a A3 1.8T, 1998, any help would be appreciated.

is your bulb warning light always on or random?

temp guage could just be the coolant temp sensor?

bulb warning light comes on once i press the brake pedal (from a cold start) and then displays througout the journey.

and no its not random, its happens all the time.

i know you say you've checked, but just make sure its not the brake bulbs, i had a dodgy one that worked sometimes and not others

its unlikely to be a wiring fault. check all bulb connections in the rear lights. you can use a bit of sand paper to clean the connections. dont forget the third brake light as it has lots of small bulbs and it would only take one to give an error.

Yep I would clean all connections. When my 3rd brake light bulb went it didn't come up with an error.

I had a problem in my 99 A3 where the rear high level brake light would work intermittently. It turned out it was a loose connection in the bulb checking unit. Might be worth getting someone to check connections for you?

2 of mine went and no warning came up
