First off, I'd like to say that until a recent house purchase, I was looking forward to selling my S4 and buying a 911...

Now, however, "she" tells me that not only am I not getting a 911, but the S4 has to go and I "have to" buy an oil burner.

Prior to the S4, I had a 2003 Golf GTi PD 150, which felt fairly rapid due to the massive amounts of torque available for all of about 500 RPM before having to change gear.

What "performance" diesels are out there are the minute?

I will be very sad to see the S4 go...

i think the 2.5 tdi's are 150 plus bhp and with a re-map can avheive better mpg, more torque and just over 200bhp. probably a good bet if you have to sell your beast!

Tell her that next time she wants a new handbag, she's not allowed one. Not only that but the 300 she's already got have to go too. Along with her shoes...

Bear in mind there's rumours of insurance companied loading the premiums on 'sports diesels' because of the mid range power - might be a bargaining tool.

Alternatively, do what shineydave's mate suggests!

Put ya foot down, diesels are for bus' and trucks.

mate your WHIPPED lol

tell her to be quiet and let you keep your S4

I've already told her the next time she says "I've saved £100 on these boots, they were half price", I am going to ask where the £100 saved is?

She thinks that it costs too much to keep the S4 and I will not let the dog in it, so she suggested getting an estate. I tried convincing her the an RS4 is the way forward, but shes not having any of it!

Why not try using reason & logic to expain why you're better off keeping the S4?

Let's say (for example) that a TDi would be £30 a week cheaper to run, but to buy a decent newish one, you'd need a figure to change of £6,000. On those figures, it'll take four years before you break even.

Hardly worth the sacrifice, is it?

as my mate Dave used to say..................

"ditch the bitch and stay rich"

Did this and not richer ..pay for cars and ex wife

Compromise is something we all have to do at one point of our lifes always harder when someone else tells us to

Get what you want they get over it in the end
I took my little girl to soft play and came back with RS the following week
A few days later it was all OK!!!

Dinner out in the new car and let her give it some sh#t and all will be fine!
If you can't have a 996 then a RS4 is a very good comprimise!!

Do it......
