Used cliptone liquid leather in the past I think

Colour lock mild leather cleaner and colour lock shield, colour lock manufacture all swisswax leather products but you DON'T pay the premium prices of what swisswax charge
You cannot go wrong with these 2 products as after applying

Thanks I’ll have a look

Gliptone all the way for me, my car is 20 months old and 14k on the clock, leather still matt.

It does shine up but a quick going over with the cleaner then the conditioner keeps it looking good.

You don't condition car leather it's non porous all you need is a cleaner and a anti friction Sealant

Sounds fair, I guess Gliptone call their antifriction sealant product Leather Conditioner.

No but the idea/basics alone says it all,it's like using hand wipes instead of soap and water
@jassyo06 - You need to do a bit more research into these my friend. They're nothing like baby wipes or your above analogy

Rather than dismissing them out of hand maybe worth giving them a try, you WILL be surprised. Trust me !

Nah l am quite happy with the colour lock kit l have colour lock have been working within the car industry for 40 years, besides using a wipe to cleanse just seems like a quick fix finish a anti friction coating is just as important as a cleanser, the only instance l could see such a wipe being useful is the cleaning of the steering wheel?

Each to their own mate :thumbs up:

In my experience of detailing, personally I have always used Megs APC and a cloth...the amount of crud that comes off the seat is unbelieveable! This in itself, is more than enough to give the seat the original matt appearance and how I left my leather seats...its lasted around 3-4 years now and only now, does it need another clean...I have not touched them inbetween...just simply driven the car!

The Dr Leather Wipes are amazing at cleaning the seat and do also give the same effect as above...ive also known detailers to use these with zero issue and like myself above, dont need to 'seal' the leather

Anti friction idea is good, but in the real world, I have found alot of creams etc for leather make them shiney...exactly what I dont want lol im sure they have come a long way since I last used Gliptone, but I wasnt really a fan...and like you said, the leather actually doesnt need sealing...and an anti scratch coating might be the way forward (not that I have ever scratched my leather)

In detailing, I find everyone has their own way of doing things...there are a million and one products out there that ultimately, do the same thing...it just depends what brand you like, and what your methods are

I'm also a fan on the Dr Leather wipes, the convenience factor as the fact that they clean very well. Dr Leather also do a dye blocker as well for use after cleaning.

However I do recognise we all have our preferred products and if they work well there is little need to risk changing them.

If you have a look on YouTube for White Details one of his videos shows them in action

Sorry to drag up this thread, but have been contemplating the Dr Leather wipes also but wanted to know if anyone has any suggestions how to get rid of a couple of scratches on my seat bolster? And how to prevent them in the future? (apart from going pantless!)

I used to use Liquid Leather conditioner and the cleaner for years until I discovered more about how modern car leather is made and used. It's basically painted and sealed which makes conditioners redundant. I bought the Dr Leather wipes to try them and like them but you need to follow up with a microfibre or else you'll get shiny streaks.

For me the best result is using a handheld steam cleaner every thousand miles and a couple of clean microfibre clothess. As for your scratch, I've sorted a few of these in my time but you need to be brave! Get some varying grades of wet & dry sandpaper. You need to sand flat the scratch and then fill/paint it. Gliptone do a good matched colour repair kit. I've achieved excellent results with it in the past.

Best Advice I can give on keeping your leather matte, is to avoid all conditioners and just keep it clean. Pears Soap is supposed to work wonders (the brown clear bar you get from the supermarket) but I've never gotten round to trying it myself yet.

Keeping leather as new... .. Well Valet pro leather soap full stop ............. Used the best on the detailing market . Swisswax colour lock furniture clinic but nothing leaves the leather looking as new as Valet pro leather soap and its cheap also buy a leather brush and use a clean cloth to dry off the product
Scratches well a photo or would help a anti friction product will keep your leather looking better for longer

I use LTT Auto Maintain, Auto Protect and their Auto Foam for when the leather needs cleaning.

Must agree with jessy06 that Valet Pro Leather Soap is better - I have been using Gliptone Leather Conditioner and thought seat were ok but darker.

Having never had Leather Seats before I was disappointed they creased so easy - actually they are creased not as bad - using Valet Pro Soap showed it was extenuated by probably my jeans colour - today gave the driver seat a soap and the results were brilliant.

Gliptone has now been religated to the shoe cleaning / hardbag box under the sink.

Didn't use colour lock sealant afterwards as will soap the seats more frequently to keep supple.

There was a post I can't find about a chap using Valet Pro Soap too - Valet pro's brush was £10.99 while on flee bay Colourlock direct was selling their cleaning brush at £5.75.
