I have recently seem my rev needle go from 800/ 900 to 1100 / 1300 rpm now this has happened twice while just sitting at lights and tonight when i parked up anyone got any suggestions to why the car would do this .
I have changed out my plugs today but problem was there a day or so b4 .

It could be something simple but it is also sometimes signs of the clutch starting to go if it starts revving itself. But hopefully not.

Dpf doing a regen? Mine did the same, then started smelling like new toaster smell, a couple of longer drives and it stopped
Would you do this to a Petrol Tfsi.
I fogot to put in original post that i have S3 2L tfsi 59 plate

Ahhhhh. Ignore my unwise words, sorry
Partly my fault for not putting in the type off car plus you where only trying to help .
Well looks like i might have found the answer ( well something to try ) could be my PCV Valve .

pcv or a leak somewhere, check the intercooler pipes too.
could be the map or maf sensor too, give them a check

Is your dipstick in good shape, as there's a newer version of this too!
I changed out the spark plugs yesterday and today i changed out the PCV and put a delete kit in . When she starts up she sits around 1050rpm ( a little high ) but after 30 secs or so she goes down to 900rpm ( which is about normal ) so far seems to have sorted problem but i will find out better once i see her with a full tank off petrol and she what i would get on a long road trip .

Was idle bad with the issue?
Chasing similar issue on mine. Changed the pcv and the seal seemed better but not much, then i found that the pcv hose isn't sealing as it should. Now need to sort that out. Thinking of putting silicone hose with proper clamps instead of plastic one that just clips in.

All i can do is give you an update in a day or two .. i got an EPMAN delete kit and by god its tight once you eventually get it on , sealed better than the original and if i mine right wasn't too expensive to buy around £45

Am in in the right room
I’m looking for a little advise
Can anyone help me out with the purpose of the pipe on top of the engine

I had the same issue was the pcv valve on mine. Go too try is try and take the oil filter cap off when engine is running you won' be able to get it off. After replacing valve it was okay.
