Hi,

I'm currently configuring a facelift S3 sportback and need a little advice regarding 18" alloys and mag ride.

Firstly, will mag ride be beneficial on 18" wheels? I can see mag ride is mandatory on 19" wheels but not 18".

Secondly, from doing a little research it seems the ride height is increased when opting for mag ride. I've seen an image comparing the two but couldn't notice much difference myself. I was wondering if anyone has another example of the ride height difference? Does mag ride also make 18" alloys look a little small?

Any help would be appreciated.

See images below or try to take a look at my Instagram images: kennethlehns3. That's 18" with mag ride.

IMO 18" looks okay and it makes a huge difference to the ride quality with mag ride in comfort vs dynamic but the 19" with 235/35 will fill out the wheel arch a bit more which will look better and here I think you'll be very happy to have mag ride.

Regarding the ride height it is around 5mm more than non mag ride.

Looks fantastic, thanks for sharing. I'm of the opinion this is perhaps something someone with a keen eye may be able to pick up on, but for me, I think it doesn't make too much of a difference. I think I'll opt for mag ride.

Many thanks for the help!

You're welcome - you won't regret it! :hi:

Magride is excellent. Comfort and dynamic does actually make a difference. Mines on 19s which probably makes it a little more of a harsh ride but I like being able to wack in comfort when I'm just bumbling about!

The different modes sure does make a difference! It's funny how you sit in your seat jumping a little when driving on the highway in Dynamic. Then when you switch to comfort it's like you're on 15" and balloon tyres :stupid:

I agree Mag Ride is very good for ironing out the bumps.. Especially useful if you have 19’ wheels as well. Certainly worthwhile excellent with 18’s.
