Not another Nogaro!!!

absolutely love this build, am i right in thinking you got the mk4 golf extinguisher bracket?. Might be all the way over there in oz but that bracket is too beautiful to not buy one.

Yeah it’s a mk4 extuinguisher bracket. Can get you in touch with old mate if you like?

I’m thinking to put another tank in the passenger side with a walbro in it to have a dual pump setup

- join with a Y piece
- to come out the Factory spot on the drivers side
- feed to engine with possible AN6 or AN8 fitting

Will it work?

will uneven lines to the Y have a negative energy effect?

It's been quiet in camp Nogaro... because i had to take the engine out again!

Well i didn't HAVE to it's just that i preferred to - i was experiencing clutch slip at higher RPM. So it was time to investigate. Engine out and cracked on.

So off with the gearbox and i was met with a black and oily mess under there.
Turns out the input shaft seal carked it. Completely my fault as i didn't change it way back when. Rookie error.

Clutch change. Thanks @Sam_ ;)

P1320958

- that's better! Push in all the way and they don't pop out anymore.

Still a little bit of re-jigging to do, especially with the PCV system. Waiting on some new rubber for the wheels too.

Oh and i changed the hotside down to a .64 one... and now

Screamer anyone? LOL

Ian, what's the part number of your coils?
Thank you in advance!
They're just the regular 2.0 TSFI ones. The ones that sit "taller".

You can still use the regular 1.8t ones so that they sit lower but then #4 would have to be clocked toward 2 o'clock because how low it sits against the oil filler tower.

Which would then mean you won't be able to use the coilpack loom cover.

So close.

PCV system needs plumbing in as I’ve found something which will convert the 19mm cam cover port to 25mm. There is also now an 034 Motorsport 1” block breather adaptor which will go to a catch can.

After that. Fluids top up and check, run the car a little, re fill gear box with more smurf blood. Pick up wheels with new tyres tomorrow then book in to fix the exhaust.

Maybe I need more blue? The manifold looks lonely...

That's a ****** nuisance on your wastegate line! Smaller housing sits slightly lower I guess.

No flexi in your WG pipe though. perhaps now is a good time to cut it and add a bellows to allow for some expansion and contraction?

Ow, i'm not going AGN cam cover. Just asked for reference purposes.. Seems like I'm not with RS4 coil packs, mine's are 06A-905-115D Regular 1.8T visually same top as yours. Just wondering If they gonna handle the power I'm looking for.

And btw, ye, do it. S3's sound MAAAD with screamer pipe. But all depends on you.

Yeah I will ask for that

I wondered why he didn’t put one on in the first place. Hmmmm

The smaller housing pushes it toward the right. Bit annoying but I guess that’s what I gotta deal with. Now. Is it safe to drive like this to the fab shop (10 mins away)?
I would keep it from boosting so the wastegate stays shut and doesn’t cook the propshaft doughnut.

Just look up the part number for 2.0 FSI or TFSI models. They’re what I have. Sorry I don’t have he part number on hand.
Screamer is too loud. The beauty of the Audi is I don’t get pulled over or attract attention. Cops usually look for fat exhausts, loud and dumped Jap cars.

Audi flies past their radars.

just get some gaffer tape on the gap, what's the worst that would happen

I think I need more boost...

But first I think my turbo needs a blankie!

Sweet ride, why didn't the mappers give it more boost?
Long story short - they’re going to look at my map again.

I came out with it misfiring like hell and getting CEL every time I drove. This is a different map.

Don't you hate other people touching your stuff and mucking it up...

@superkarl @killfame Still using n75 and timing is super tame at the moment.

Want that all dialled in on dyno TBH .... so for now....

Not sure how accurate they will be or if I even will be able to hear anything.

I would’ve expected a gt30 + stroker to be making boost at 4K not 5

If that's gate pressure only it will be slower to spool. You need the 100% duty cycle in the pre spool area to positively pin the gate shut as it spools.

I've found with my 10psi gate it'll make 10psi way sooner with n75 on than off.

Changed my colourMFA back in - i thought the cluster was interfering with me7datalogging but it was actually something in the tune that was stopping things like knock, intake airs, coolant temps and MAF (it was mafless) from being read.

you know all the difficulties I had with me7logger on my S3 - on my TT I just plugged it in and created an ECU file and it worked straightaway. I spent about 12 hours trying to get it to work with the S3, why it would be different as they are essentially the same loom, cluster and ECU ?

Different cluster.

TT aren’t VDO

I find with the s3 I need to use the cheap cable. And slow init the cable first in nefmoto before disconnecting and then sing me7logger

Weird. But works all the time

But yes. That’s a strange thing that’s happening with your TT

Drove interstate and organised a meet Sydney’s S3 8L Crew. What a great mix of colours and some great people to catch up with!

(Can anyone spot the other car?)

Then Noggie went out on track...

What a handful! I’ve defibtley got to get out more regularly to up the skill level. Was all over the place first couple of laps and it was only a Happy Laps session but was still able to blow off the elbow to the throttle body :sos:

Had to pull into pit to fit the hose back on and the rest of the time it stayed on and was able to put the car through it’s paces.

Well. There were no fires or run offs but things got a tad hot... While coasting to get off the track low oil pressure warning come on. Need to consider replacing the pump or adding some fans to the external oil cooler.

New turbo beanie got pretty warm and was smoking a lot when leaving the car to idle too.

Gotta get some beads welded onto TB (then can wind up the boost)

... but most importantly the car survived and was able to drive 2 hours to home and give a squirt every now and again.

*phew*

Hope to get some pics off the event photog soon!

you're a champion Ian.

Did any other "racers" come over to admire your build?

I love your cam cover.

People were interested in the car. When the bonnet was opened they were very surprised!
“Look how big that intake is”
“How much power is it making ?”
“How much boost you running?”

1613A049 7586 4B5C A4E9 A4ABB6D40F34

I had to upload a slightly less aggressive boost tune as the TB pipe kept blowing off...

LOL
