Hi all,

This is my first time posting so I apologise if I missed previous threads on this topic.

I recently upgaraded my A4 cab to an Rns-e sat nav plus which came with a glove box CD Changer 8e0035111d. Unfortunately it never came with the cable between them so I purchased a kufatec 33803 cable via eBay. The cable arrived during the week and I spent the afternoon fitting it, however all that happens with the changer is that the lights flicker and nothing else. I’ve fitted the individual brown wire that was fitted into the blue connector into the kufatec connector and connected the ring tag of the the cable to the head unit. In doing more research I have seen on eBay a genuine cable which shows instructions that implies there is a wiring modification using pin contact 12 but not all the information is shown.

Can I ask if anyone has encountered this issue before and if possible what the solution is?

As the head unit and changer came as a pair I am assuming that they don’t need to be coded, is this assumption correct?

Many thanks in advance

Ian

i have got an audi section of loom for your changer if you have anymore problems, hope you get it sorted though mate.

what have you upgraded from may I ask as it may well be a coding issue.

From a symphony 2.

Both the rns-e and the cd came as a pair so hopefully are coded together.

Thanks Neil, I will keep that offer in mind

your car wont know about the rns-e then , the rns-e may have come with the cd as a pair but unless you correctly code the replacement rns-e comboin to your car it wont work properly.
A lot of things don't need coding but a lot will and swapping to a different oem head unit will be need to be coded in properly .

Thanks Just Rob, do I just need to buy a VCDS Vag com cable?

In your opinion would the CD changer not power correctly until coded? Currently the lights just flicker on and off in what appears to be a sequence but it does nothing else, it won’t accept a disc and doesn’t sound like it is powering ( usually you can hear the stack moving etc)

Cheers

unless you are happy messing around with VCDS then i'd get someone else to do it really, also you need a proper cable and genuine software which will set you back a good few hundred pounds, whereas if you had a vcds user near you they may do it for a few pounds.
It is hard to say what the situation is with your the items you have fitted really, there may be fault or it all needs coding in properly to function correctly.

Hi Ian.
How did it go in the end with your CD changer retrofit?

I have VCDS, but until recently have only used it to read fault codes for diagnostic purposes.

I acquired an RNS-E 1 with a CD changer as installed in my 2007 B7 3.2 Quattro Cabriolet to put into the The other half’s 2007 B7 1.8T Cabriolet fitted with a Concert 2 Din.

The 1.8T has a factory quadlock as has the 3.2 so I assumed it would be plug and play plus coding but it wasn’t to be.

The 3.2 has the blue 12 pin socket in the quadlock which goes through the loom to the CD Changer. The 1.8 hasn’t got that lead.

I purchased a supposedly OEM cable from Germany via EvilBay. Made the wiring change by moving the K line from plug C to the new plug B after moving the Bose wire on Plug B as when I first plugged it in I couldn’t access controller 37 via VCDS.

I set the coding to the same as the 3.2 and hey presto... operational Sat Nav but the CD changer is dead.

I’ve checked both the Changer and the RNSE by swapping them with the ones in the 3.2 and they both work perfectly after putting in the RNS-E pass code ( code provided by a guy on Evil Bay for a fiver in 15 minutes)

The supposed OEM changer cable Came with a brown lead with a tag onto The B Plug which I assume goes to ground ( the lead came without instructions ☹️)

What I’ve also noticed is that at the changer end there are two pins with double cores in the pins on the 3.2 which aren’t on the new OEM cable. (These extra cores are both black and dissapear into the loom on the 3.2 to god knows where)

I’ve also observed there’s an extra Blue/Red core on D16 on the 1.8T loom.

I would be grateful to hear how you got on and whether you had to make any pin changes.

Many Thanks in anticipation

Andy
