Hey all,

I am almost finished a double din conversion from an Audi Concert to an RNS-D nav unit.

I have had the console out, modified the centre console, fitted the double cage and put it all back together again.

I am in the process of modifying the tray/climate control unit to fit the double din cage.

I plugged the new unit in and it had the Safe pin error message, so I have now put a bridge between the terminal 5 & 7 to correct this and have now gotten it to function using its code.

It is acting very strange now and I don’t know how to solve.

First of all it comes up saying that there is no CD changer and it doesn’t let me put in a CD. It also doesn’t turn off when the car goes off. The red LED button lights also don’t turn on.

Does this sound like common issues when retrofitting and how is best to rectify them?

My car is a A4 B7 3.0 TDi (late 240 bhp model if that matters).

Many thanks, Kevin.

have you coded it in , if it wasn't factory fit then the car wont know about it, or if it does it wont have the correct information stored, you'll need vcds to code it in properly.
just a thought as most RNS - X need to be coded in if they were not fitted as standard or from the factory.

Aw, Jesus. So what needs coded in? The car needs programmed?

Do you reckon a local garage can do that?

Either a local garage or go to the VCDS section on the forum and find out on the map a member close to you. Someone might be able to help for few beer tokens.

I have someone/people in my area with VCDS and are willing to give it a go.

Two questions:

1) when there is the option for instrument cluster is this required to show the CD/Track No on the red screen or is this option only for the colour screens?

2) and are the problems im having sounding like it is the programming and that should sort them? i.e not turning off when the car does, not having the back lights on the buttons (despite lights being turned on), having the "No CD Changer" error coming up.

Thanks,

Kevin.
