Hi posted a thread about alloys. Thanks for the replys. New to forum business so dont know how you guys go on about this.

Theres two issues;

. One the rev coubted sometimes sticks and goes all funny.

. Two the cars smokes on idle aspecially after youve used the turbo. And now on dash its saying oil level low.

What could these problems be. Before i take it to a mechanic on monday, just need assurance that its not something major.

First audi ever and dont know how they are as cars.

Will be waiting for your replys. Will take a pic of the car and post it up.

turbo seals may possibly be worn and putting oil into the exhaust side of the turbo .hence using the oil and smoking . would need to take turbo intake pipe off and check for any excess movement on the shaft .

Thanks for the reply. The turbo was changed by the previous owner. It was a used part. Just to take me out my worries, it could not be headgaskets or piston rings or anything major could it

I just had this problem on mine. Used to smoke loads if left on idle then was ok under boost. Was the thrust washer in the turbo. I had major play on my impeller shaft but in and out rather than side to side so was allowing oil to enter the intake side

If that’s what’s going on then new turbo of refurb. I used it as an excuse to get a hybrid turbo with billet wheel so can do up to just over 300bhp

Havent got the funds for hybrid turbo yet. But i do have that planned in the future...how much for a new turbo

The guy I used was £350 for a refurb but you could take a punt on an eBay one some people have said the got a £150 ko4 015 and have never had a problem

Ok thanks. Day off tomorrow so gonna take it in. Btw if the headgasket was shot then would i be able to tell by now? Because i drove it back from london and been driving it for a week since and the car is driving mint aside the smoke. Checked the oil level too and its at the top.

If the coolant level hasn’t moved it’s unlikely and would smoke all the time. They can easily test by putting the emissions tester in the coolant bottle and checking for hydrocarbons

Ok thanks. Went to the mechanic, could find anything other than an oil leak. Btw my aux belt has snapped off. Basically the jockey pulley bolt snapped. Not going well this audi
