Thought i'd start my own thread, never done one before with previous cars so thought I'd start with this one.......the cars not going to be ground breaking or a monster build just bits added here & there to make it more enjoyable without breaking the bank hopefully!
New to audi's so any help along the way & advice will be much appreciated guys & girls I don't want to be making costly mistakes if it can be helped.

First up the car is a 2002 s3 just turned 110k miles the cars previously been mapped at some time in its life but no record of who by or when so I'll be getting it re done once I've everything I want in place to go stage 2 from badger5. A cpl of little problems sorted earlier on when i 1st got the car......temp sensor & thermostat that's been replaced & all good for now!

Got a bit of spare time the other day & installed a creations motorsports turbo outlet pipe, servo pipe, N75 & Dv boost hose the car already had a creations motorsport oversize tip fitted so I've kept it all the same manufacturer, there prices are a bit lower than the likes of forge & the quality Seems to be pretty, also received a 10% off voucher for next order which I'm sure I'll be doing.

I only had to cut the turbo outlet pipe back about 10mm to stop it putting a little kink in the bend where it was to long. Held the charge pipe in the vice & to get a good straight cut I put the outlet onto the charge pipe so as to keep the pipes form & used masking tape to give me something to work to when cutting through with a craft knife. All fitted & looks good to me.

Also fitted a new inlet manifold cover that was missing when i bought the car & fitted a quick drain valve for the catch can & ran it to just under the front of the car as that was a ball ache having to drain before the drain valve.

I need a battery cover if anyone has one they'd want to sell me or where I can get one from?

I've ordered from badger5 a new bmc cone filter & a dw65 fuel pump which should be here for the weekend & also I've opted for a airtek intercooler in satin black with red airtek logo & pipes which should also be here this weekend.......busy weekend if I get the time to fit this lot.

Anyone with a airtek intercooler that has any advice when fitting to make things quicker & easier?
Looking at the airtek kit will I need to replace the hoses from charge pipe to intercooler & the throttle body intake hose? Doesn't look like there hoses supplied go from & to or am i just looking at this wrong? ideally I'd like to replace with silicone if so as i want to fit it all in one go & move forward

Welcome to the forum mate. I got a airtec fmic fitted last summer by a local garage. They spent I think 5 hours doing mine cutting the crash bar, trimming the fog light grills and I think the back of the bumper needed a trim. The pipes that where sent where fine and no extra ones where needed so you should be fine with the airtec kit. The hoses supplied don't go all the way up to the charge pipe and throttle body they join to the existing pipe work that's there. Your going to have a busy weekend ahead of you.
I'll keep an eye on your thread sounds intresting.

5 hrs! Might have my work cut out for me then lol
Thanks for the note about the charge pipe & inlet pipe I've ordered both today in silicone & hopefully here for the wkd

This little lot turned up today:smile new: just waiting on charge pipe & inlet pipe to arrive then should be good to go.......currently breaking a car so all funds from that are going into the s3........finding time to break a car & work on this is hard so things might take time

Ok so I've managed to fit the airtec fmic & both upper intercooler pipes too. I hoped was going to be a straight forward job.........a angle grinder & a dremel tool definitely helped for all the cutting & trimming involved with fitting the fmic just took a bit longer than I'd planned but starting after a day on site wasn't the best idea as my patience was fading as quick as the light! Started about 5 & finished 12! I'm sure my neighbours love the sound of a angle grinder as much as I do lol

I've had to replace a fog light grill that departed from the bumper when on the test drive.......now held in by 2 small black self tappers, not wanting to spend £50 for another.

I've also replaced the missing battery cover with a new one which has cleaned the engine bay up nicely. Sourced a filter box from samhendry as planned to fit the bmc filter inside it with some modification after I'd seen tuffys OE looking engine bay But this will mean I have to relocate the catch can which I can't be bothered to do atm if I'm honest.

IMG 5650

Replaced clutch with a Sachs paddle clutch from bill @badger5 new cover plate & release bearing from TPS, whilst this was done I had a pipewerx 3" downpipe & mid pipe mated to the miltek back box, new powerflex dog bone bush installed as well.
I'm still to fit the dw65 before I go for mapping & have a set of 550 injectors ready to fit also supplied by badger5

I'm going to be using Ben parsons at devil developments for mapping as I'm in the south & badger5 is a 6 hr drive all round, has anyone here used ben? I've heard nothing but good things about him on the 1.8t fb group

good work on the FMIC, imagine you saved £300 going to some garage spending a little bit of time doing up jubilee clips. looking good

Thanks Stuart, I'll do what I can on the car myself to save £££ I left the clutch & downpipe to a garage as I haven't the facility's & heard the clutch change isn't the nicest of jobs

that's why I sold my S3 - having to shell out 9 hours labour for a car which already had other issues.

Good work mate on the fmic.
I wish I had the confidence to have done mine instead of paying out to a garage to do it. That Sachs paddle clutch is a good bit of kit I have heard. It's good reading this thread keep up the good work

You should've given it a go, it isn't to bad just time consuming. Worst bit was trying to refit the bumper, comes off in minutes but hooking it back on was a mare....if I'd had some help it might've been easier. Took it back of week later to do some trimming as I wasn't happy how it sat so twice I've wrestled the bumper & now I want to paint the lower grill so it's coming off again! lol

Some exciting news & some not so exciting news....Firstly I've gotta sort out my leaking rocker cover gasket, will be doing a oil change as well as replacing the oil pick up pipe.
IMG 5763

The exciting news is I'm having a engine built so I should be able to run some reasonable power safely. It's not a huge spec build just having zrp rifle drilled rods, mahle bearings & supertech exhaust valves added. Not planning huge power or increasing revs so it's been kept pretty basic with just a bit of safety built in. Have heard adding n/a cams can give a little gain?

fitted new brakes to it over the weekend :) not bad £70 in total (front brembo discs for Amazon, GSF Bendix rears and free pads from a previous purchase a few years ago) I think I freaked out the guy (and myself) after the first 20 miles on the first drive today where I needed to brake quite hard travelling down the hill and stopped at the red lights and the coating on the new discs was obviously finally removed and I had smoke coming from both front wheels. :)

Sadly one of the rear tyres is warn a bit unevenly (inside edge bald) - this can only point to a warn rear bush, somehow?

IMAG1377

IMAG1374

have the haldex filter, oil and drain plug ready to change this - but didn't realise these cars also have an additional underbody trim protecting the petrol tank, which needs to be removed too, and it was too cold to add that to the weekend list. previous discs were wearing a little unevenly.

I also created my stage 1 map, based on the timing and load as my original S3 Map, but changed the AFR to be a little more generous fuel wise. dont want to upload it until I do the timing belt (Just in case).

Those discs look past there best! What's causing the uneven wear/braking for them to wear like that?

Sounds interesting Stuart, how'd you create your own map?

Finally got round to fitting the Bilstein coilovers i bought a cpl months ago.
IMG 6328

Not to bad a job, replaced the topmounts with lcr topmounts & replaced the bearings too
IMG 6333
the new struts look so much better than the old tired stuff

Also got round to installing a heat shield from B5, I know the heat shield does nothing for actually keeping the heat out but it's a tidy way of supporting the maf and doesn't look to bad once sprayed up to match the engine bay plastics.

why dont you trim the DV valve pipe down a touch and the N75 pipe, then you might not need the extra bit of pipe for the N75, and the pipe from the charge pipe to DV wont be all wonky.

I see you have dropped the splitr DV.

I did try tidying that up before Stuart & doing away with the extra pipe but if I connect the n75 straight into the tip pipe it pulls the cables for the valve really taught that any movement looks like it could pull them from the valve

Extend the wiring...

My headlights have required a bit of attention since i bought the car & it's about time i sorted them out.
4 stages of polishing, then a final mop with a compound & sealed with a uv protector. For what it cost & how little time it took i'm impressed with the results they look allot cleaner & given the front end a freshen up.

The cookbot adjustable control arms & powerflex bushes got delivered this week.
FullSizeRender

Before i fit the rear arms has anyone experience of the cookbot 30mm bush inserts with the superpro caster increasing bush on the front arms? Looking at getting them, installing it all & then getting a geometry set up.

I saw that ad an Facebook and had said that if I hadn't already bought all my stuff for my rebuild od have got that done by umbrella engines. You got a very good deal there if it's the same one I'm thinking of.
Hope the rest goes smoothly for you mate and will look forward to reading on ur build.
What turbo are you putting on?

What’s the deal your thinking of ? Sharing caring yo know

Also spotted this on Matt's FB page. Looks like he's getting through a good load and from a brief chat I had with him, seems to have his head screwed on fairly well. We'll find out in a few thousand miles I guess!

I got a great deal as i saw Matt was doing a number of free builds to get his name & work out there so all i had to do was buy the parts i wanted & he put it all together for me:yes:.

I've gone for the bbt k418t hybrid, I had looked at the aet kit but didn't want to put to much into the car as I'm still a little undecided on it!........still love my imprezas but the Audi is growing on me slowly
Looks like we are on the same path although I didn't go for valve valve springs & retainers as I don't plan on increasing the rev range with the hybrid.......this might bite me on the **** later, just have to wait & see

Yeah he seems a sound lad, just needs the opportunity to prove his work & get his name out there. Seems to be busy & doing ok.
Yep proof is in the pudding but I've every confidence in his work...(finger crossed!)

The BBT 418T has just been delivered, need to make a template so i can have the Chinafold manifold port matched to it & then all should be good to go

That looks alright, do you have an email for him as I’ve managed to get to 33 without ever having Facebook and I don’t want to give in now ha

Haha yeah i hear what your saying regarding fb!

Haven't his email but could probably get it for you

I was the engine rebuild with all the stuff if I remember rightly and it was only costing £2k. That's why as I say if I hadn't had bought all my parts he would have been perfect deal.
ADs3 nice looking turbo. What are you thinking on figures when ur up and Running? What is your goal?

Hydro if it doesn't make 320+ I'll be a bit disappointed but looking at similar set ups it should manage that & a bit more.........

Your on the fb 8l page aren't you? Someone asking similar questions about injectors & hybrid as you.......had similar response myself about the hybrid/big turbo debate, I just want to keep it simple for now but further down the line i'll probably regret not going bt from the off. Least your head has the spec to handle it

Yes mate that was me. Them on the fb site seem to think I'll get a big turbo build done for not much more than the hybrid package. I think there is a lot more involved than what they are saying. I don't tho k my funds would stretch that far so the badger package I'll b going for. 330hp ur looking then that's not to bad. Hope u get what ur looking.

did you buy your chinafold direct from Alibaba, or already ported to avoid the misfire peeps on here have discussed?
