The boot on my 2004 A4 cab won’t open. The remote works on the key, I can hear the locking mechanism motor turning but the boot does not open. Same with the boot button it activates the locking mechanism but the boot doesn’t open. The physical key doesn’t turn the lock is jammed, tried both keys and wd40 it won’t move.

Also the rear seats do not fold down so I can not access the boot that way. I believe the back seats can be removed and a panel cut out to access the boot (welded back later).

I want to know

1. Is there a better way?
2. If no other way, how do you open the boot from inside?

Key lock - don’t think so, sprayed wd40 and still won’t budge and I mean literally won’t budge. Someone suggested it may have collapsed inside the barrel. If you know any other tricks for the lock itself let me know and I’ll try.

Boot lock it’s self - when it was last open the connections looked greased

is it the correct key for the boot lock , my boot remote jammed years ago and I just got used to using the key all the time , never had a problem , apart from when is freezes shut ,

I think their the right keys, I tried both that came with the car. :0( . They open the doors but not the boot, the lock seems to have ceased up and will not turn at all.

So, when you operate the boot (trunk in the US) auto-release button on Fob and on Door do you hear the click at the trunk lock? Can you open by squeezing the under lip latch and manually lifting lid, could be sticking latch or lid lifters are weak/sticking. Oh, you also have to leave the lock manually...manual overrides automatic lock

Make sure the trunk is unlocked (counter clockwise) I believe and test if the boot (trunk) can be unlatched underneath the lip.
Remember the valet key only fits the ignition & door locks; it cannot open the trunk nor will a
manually locked trunk be opened by use of the auto-unlock mode (supposedly)...
Try resetting (rebooting) the top using the video below as reference, and make sure all you windows are down when you do this...
