I think my S4 has gone a bit bonkers recently. It has got to a point where I am a bit scared now ( ) to put my foot down anymore. Goes like a bullet, is it to do with the boost season??

A 62 plate C63, a 66 plate M4 and a 12 plate M3 have been recent victims. I need to do some data logging to find out if it is actually the case but man it feels faster for the last few weeks now - scary tbh!

Has anyone else noticed the same with their S4s as well?

@Bristle Hound, I believe you are right. Looks like she likes cold weather. Not sure if it felt the same after the remap and I don’t like thrashing it too much as I drive it only over the weekends now and the usually SC whine gets taken over by my wife’s

All those cars you have listed are RWD high power cars. The owners are probably not as keen to be flooring it as much when the road conditions are as they are at the moment. Sure engines make more power with cooler humid conditions but this will apply to all cars.

Agree mate but none of the above happened in the last week. It has happened over last few weeks; mid-November-ish when the road conditions weren’t that bad. I am not saying an S4 is better than any of the these cars but ... I drove the car today after the snow and it definitely feels different to when the above happened.

Cold, dense air for the win!

Maybe it's time to get mine back on the rolling road, see if I can get a read out worth bragging about.

Was on a late night drive back from London last night and she definitely felt pokey in the cold air.

I think that's just a phone symbol, rather than a battery measure :friendly wink:

Yep, my car is stock, apart from a modded air filter housing.

Inlet air temp display would be more useful. A cold frosty morning seems like an intercooler upgrade

@Tashfeen - I have two observations
1) I find that compared to turbo cars which tend to be more on/off boost, our supercharged cars are rather progressive. Since a tuned one has ample power, I find that I am rarely driving at its peak. So when I do so I am sometimes still surprised by it. Maybe its the same for you?
2) Unless you stop and ask, it is never possible to know if the other driver was pushing hard. Personally I wouldn't push hard driving one of those RWD cars with the power they can develop - too scary for me.

Regarding in-car monitoring, FIS-Control MMI should be available soon.

I agree, it does surprise you every time you floor it and I have never tried it half-heartedly. When I do it, I do it to see how the car responds in different conditions. I believe I need to do some logging to find out exactly if there is anything noticeable.

On all of the occasions it wasn't me but the above mentioned who tried to test the "waters". I wasn't interested as it was late at night. But their repeated stop and go and stop and go made me go for it :)
And as I mentioned above this wasn't about me beating them but about me getting surprised that S4 is quite capable of taking people by surprise including the person driving it :D

Do you mean it will be available for us B8.5 lot??

I beat a c63 bi-turbo at a 1/4 mile a couple of weekends ago. Conditions were cool and dry.

There was an m4 there as well but unfortunately didn't manage to line up against it.

B8 and B8.5 alike. FIS-control is currently DIS-only for the B7 and earlier. We need the FIS-control-MMI so that it displays on the MMI instead. It seems the first version will allow 3 user-configurable gauges to be shown, but hopefully functionality will keep increasing in the future with firmware updates. I shan't be able to resist getting one for my S5.

Now on paper the C63 should have won shouldn't it?

What is FIS-control?

Ignore; I've googled. :)

Believe there is more than just the firmware updates. From what I have read there is some hardware requirements as well, i.e, cables etc and a module which need to be connected.

Not sure to be honest. Beat him twice in a row and also at a previous event in the wet although he was never going to get off the line in the rain.

Stock C63 is definitely faster than a stock S4 but not remapped S4.

i guess this is the tourqe pro apphow do you get it to do the 0-60?

I believe one of the settings or dashboards is around 0-60 timings. I use OBD Fusion and it has a ‘Performance’ dashboard which allows you to capture that. I am sure it will be the same with TP

Could be "Führer"? We'll find out if I install one and later finding myself invading Poland :)

Yes I know it needs HW. What I meant is that the functionality should improve over time with FW updates - that's want stefan@fis-control told me when I asked on the forum.

I haven't spoken to Stefan but his websites suggests he has been testing the FIS control MMI successfully on an A5 for the last few months. It will be exciting to have it there all the time. No need to carry a ****** Windows brick and a VCDS cable all the time.

@Dippy , would you mind letting me know as and when you are going to getting it installed as I would be interested too.

I'd like to get FIS control MMI too so I'm interested if anyone takes the plunge.

I expect I'll buy one as soon as it is available, so I'll certainly post my installation experience.

All turbo/supercharged cars perform better in cold weather.
I recall a C63 AMG done 12.8 1/4 at one event I attended a few years ago

So, I thought I’ll do some tests today and find out if the car was actually performing any better. And surprise, surprise!!!

Before I post, the conditions were; wet roads and had a rear wheel spin on both the occasions.

0-60 - 3.54 secs (with wheel spin)
Max speed - 113mph (had to slow down due to road end ).
I know if the road was clear I would’ve been able to hit 3.4 if not 3.3.

I would also like to think that had I not slowed down I would have definitely been able to hit 120mph under 12sec.

Out of interest what did you record these with?

Used VCDS as well as OBD Fusion using Carista. For Carista readings I made sure the rpm/ speed on the speedo as well as ones on Carista were synced.

3.46 is awesome @Carlos85. I have been trying a new launch technique that US folks have mentioned on Audizine and tbh I have struggled on all four occasions as my rear wheels spin every time I have tried it. The ‘traditional’ approach has worked so far.

I literally just mashed it with the gearbox in sport and esp off! That was the first time I tried to be fair as well haha... What's the technique you have been trying?
