hi
I have some Michelin Alpines arriving today to go on the Quattro

Has anyone got winters on a Quattro and what have they been like in ice and snow?

Nope, I only ever use all season tyres to be honest , thought about winter rubber a few times but it allway's seemed like a lot of extra cost , I tend to be able to get by without them after driving for almost 40 years on summer / all season tyres.
But as your going that route let us know how you get on and what sort of improvement you experience.

good luck chap.

Fitted some Continental ContiWinterContacts to my S4 a couple of weeks ago. In the dry and warm(ish) they were noticeably not as planted as my summer Pirelli P Zero Nero GTs. However in the recent cold spell the car has never felt anything other than rock solid. I can’t compare to the summer tyres though as I haven’t used them in the winter weather.

Snow is great, ice is not as good but the tread is wide and not ideal, that said, they are a massive improvement over summer rubber, aqua planing is unheard of. Just keep in mind they are better, they don’t defy physics and drive accordingly.

I had my alloys fully refurbed before getting the winters fitted.

Thanks Guys

Going on tomorrow the Goodyear’s aren’t great in ice, but a big heavy V6 diesel in the front doesn’t help for understeer
In the Dry with RS4 ARBs, suspension the car is great
I am hoping the winters help a bit
Local friend fitting tomorrow and then off to get a Hunter alignment as my summer tyres have slightly feathered on the edges
Been struggling to find a place to align as so low on the Cab

My summer pilot sport 3 were terrible in the recent snow. Did a 180 in my Quattro. Was expecting a bit of grip in the very little snow at the time. Any thoughts on a decent all season tyre?

Michelin Cross Climate is the best all round tyre. Not cheap though.

Yep I drop from 19's to 17's in winter with Nokian snow tyres. Difference is night and day on snow/ice
