After nearly four years owning my A3 Sport 1.4 COD saloon, I've been having itchy feet, so started looking at other cars and, following a test drive of a new model Q5 Sline TFSI yesterday, I negotiated an acceptable deal on the demonstrator, and will be collecting it this Friday, which I'm really looking forward to......an early Chrissie pressie to myself. Lol!!

As the Q5 Sline standard spec has most things I would like, the additional options fitted to this demo car are:-
Daytona Grey
Tech Pack, with virtual cockpit
Pano roof
20” x 8.0J ‘5-segment-spoke’ design contrasting grey, diamond cut alloy wheels

This will be my first car with a pano roof and, whilst I think it looks great, I am a little concerned in case it has any problems, such as rattles, leaks, wind noise, etc.......can anyone with a pano roof ease my concerns??

We also tested the Q5 Sline TDI, and we both preferred the TFSI over the TDI, as the engine is so quiet and very smooth, also very impressed with the ride quality over some rough roads, especially as the TFSI had the 20" wheels option. Also, as our annual mileage is relatively small, we wouldn't get the benefits of having a diesel.

Even though I'm getting a Q5, I hope you won't mind me still lurking on the A3 forum now and again!!

I nearly went for a fully specced up Q5 just over a year ago (previous model) when I opted for the S3.
But the new model was coming out and the outgoing model had the old technology.
I'm sure none of us will have any issues with you hanging around here, the more the merrier lol
I'd love to see a few pics of th Q5 when it arrives.

I have a pano roof on my s3 and so far no drama.

I had one on my S4 Avant which creaked like you wouldn’t believe. Derby Audi sorted it for me though as Audi do a service kit for the roofs at a recommended distance .... it’s badically some posh grease but they did mine for free and it didn’t make a peep afterwards .... that was at about 40k miles.

As long as your dealers not a **** you’ll be fine.

i've had a bit of a rattle on my pano roof which seems to have mysteriously fixed itself, apart from that no drama as long as you get them serviced. They are generally pretty solid.

Would be interested to get your take on the amount of road noise/tyre roar in comparison to the A3.

Thanks for your pano roof experience so far....I'll keep my fingers crossed for mine.

Regarding road noise/tyre roar, I'm running 17" wheels and Dunlop Sport Maxx tyres on my A3, and the road noise is quite noticeable, and is the one big complaint I have of the A3. By comparison, during the test drive of the Q5, it was really noticeable how quiet the car was, with very little road noise/tyre roar compared to my A3, and this was driving on different road surfaces, including potholed town roads, A & B roads and motorway, so I'm very impressed, especially as the Q5 was running on 20" wheels.

We hope you will still be active in this section Allan :) x

Picked up my Q5 on Thursday but, unfortunately, I'm unable to upload a photo from my iPad as it exceeds the 2MB limit.....can anyone explain how I can make my photo smaller, or another method of uploading?

I had the same issues until someone introduced me to the Tapatalk app - works perfectly

Imgur sometimes can give funny share links, I always look for one that has .jpg at the end. If you're on desktop look for the share links and the [img ] link

Great choice, congratulations!

I’ve had my SQ5 since September and I love it.

No rattle from the pano roof on mine. In fact zero rattles from anywhere.

To be honest, I probably would have been happy with the 2.0 TFSI in S-Line guise - I’m not doing any driving to justify the extra power and the mpg is not hugely high...!

Sorry you still can't access the photo link, jassyo06....hope you get a new computer from Father Christmas..lol!!

Had a great return trip to Heathrow last night, and was very impressed with the car, as it felt very smooth and solid, and very quiet, which surprised me, especially with the 20" wheels. Overall, I got 37.9 mpg, which I'm quite happy with. Round town I'm getting about 28 ish mpg, which isn't too bad.
