Just a quick question, will 18'' x 9, et35 fit my 2007 a3?
Cheers folks

they're gonna poke slightly. I'd say the most "perfect" offset on a 9j alloy is 41 to sit flush with the arch

the offset for the A3 is safe upto about 56, but the alloys need to be narrower

7.5J are often 52-56, 8j tend to be 45-48, 9j usually 40-45, anything outside these numbers tends to require arch modifications and camber adjustments

Your probably right. I've found some other alloys, 18 x 8 et 43. genuine s line with good michelin tyres for £250 so I'm going for those.
Cheers.

Make sure they are genuine as the ET for A3 models on an 18" rim is usually higher than that. Look for the Audi stamp and part number on the inside.

Ive got genuine bbs ch 028 on mine from an a4 they are et 43

They will be genuine, intended for the A4, meaning they actually look better on the A3 than the standard A3 offset :)

Unless you're going to run wider front wings on the front and a lot of negative camber on the rear id say you'll struggle to fit them nicely.

They'll be ok. A4 wheels are just right, have them on my A3, albeit they are 17" x 8".

Ok, I've seen a set in the classified section on here, 19 x 8.5, et 45. Will these fit?

I think the response about the negative camber was to the OP's question about the ET35's

Had you not missed them, these would have been very "snug" we might say. A close example are Bentley alloys, these are a VERY nice fit into an audi a3 arch, they're 19 x 9, et 41, and require no modification to fit

Will these fit ok? 18_8 et 45

yes, all the oem "style" alloys you see for the A3 on ebay, that are basically replicas of our standard alloys, tend to be that fitment so they'll basically go on any audi from the A3 to the A6 or even A8, as the 8j rim is suitable for wider tyres, 245 (a4/a6/a8) as well as 225 (a3/a4)

So a set of 225 x 40 x 18 will be ok on a set of 8j rims?

Its more your Et all you have there is width x height x wheel rim , i have 225x40x18 ET43. The bigger the ET the more it will go under the Arch anf the less the more it will stick out to the Arch thats why normally ET43 are cool on S3 as they seem to line up with Arch

Yea, I understand that. It was a question as to which would be the best width, 225 or 235. I've been advised by the company I got the wheels off to stay with 225 on an 8j rim.

Well take there advice and stick with the 225. Remember the higher the tyre the less you can lower and i would assume since 235 is bigger it would be wider so possible rubbing too

225 are perfect, 18" rims on an a3 should really only ever be 7.5 or 8j width anyway, its only when you go to 19" that you get 8.5 or 9j which would require 235/35 19 tyres (and lower offset of between 40-45)
