So I've bought a used S4 (some months ago) and it seems the previous owner had the alloys refurbished but opted to have the diamond cut outer faces of the rotor alloys painted rather than diamond cut. I've got zero experience with diamond cut alloys, and I've seen a few people saying that they just don't last so just paint them instead.

So, what have people here done? Kept the diamond cut when a refurb was needed or painted instead?

I enquired at the wheel specialist and it did cost a mini fortune (about £650) to get all 4 done, and I can imagine me doing that and then curbing them.

The place I got mine done from is in Swindon; Platinum Alloys. They charged me £117/alloy. So, for 4 Alloys it shouldn’t be more than £468. Not sure what is the process the company you enquiries from are following but @ £650 it sounds a bit steep tbh. I went to Platinum based on the recommendation of a fellow forum member and knowing how OCD he is I don’t regret it. They have done a really good job.

The only problem with Diamond cut (or repeated diamond cut) is that it can be done only a few times and after which you’ll have to change the Alloys.

I did have a look at Lepsons and they seemed cheaper. Not sure why the wheel specialist are as much as they are. It’s a franchise so I guess they have to pay their fees etc. I’d much prefer to drive somewhere to get them done but the only other places in Nottingham are unknown to me and not reviewed by forum members to my knowledge. Would prefer a known place.

Tempted to get the spokes done black...

Maybe ask in the general chat section. I got a few recommendations for diamond cut places in York for a family member recently. Sure people will help you.

I had a bodyshop repair a diamond cut alloy by carefully sanding out the scuff.

Only cost £60. Bonus.
