Question people for all that have done an mmi update. As you will see on the photo I have whatever version it is on the screen and shortly after buying the car I bought the update cd's you see in the other photo. First question is can someone tell me if I have the right cd's for my car. I did send a photo of the version my car has when I bought them to check so hopefully they are right. Second question is do I leave it engine off when doing it or can I have it running etc.

@DJAlix can possibly help.

Not sure if engine running could interfere but at least, you should have a battery charger connected. Constant power is needed, so it doesn't get interrupted during the update. It can bodge up the whole system.

DJAlex has sorted me with SW, MAP and FW updates. Worth having a Pro doing it for you.

Your just about on the very last version and to be fair 55.7.0 won't give you anything, you don't already have. If it's not broke then don't bother fixing it even more so on the MMI 2G system, as there is no gain. If you do go ahead then stick a battery charger on the terminals under the bonnet, as most of the system will only take around 20min but the BT module takes around 1 hour to complete.

Brilliant chaps thank you for that. I didn't know what version I had and had these discs from when I bought the car but never had the time or patience or courage to do it with all the horror stories etc. What numbers are my version? what gains if any will I gain or are available on the discs I have?

You have 51.4.0 and the disks are 55.7.0. There is very little change between the two versions, no features just bug fixes. If you are not seeing any issue then there is very little point in updating. If you were on a much older version then I would have said yes.
