Smartglass has mine looking good, I don't have many swirl marks so buffs up nice with a microfibre.
Are your trims scratched/marked, I would advise using a liquid cleaner/polish 1st, if this doesn't work, look at a fine polish.
@jassyo06 has a good knowledge of detailing

There's a couple scratches on them but not many. More just swirl marks

paint protection film is the best way, those pillars are always prone to swirling...you only need to look at them and theyv gone

@Toonsoldier91 - I'm sure piano black trim was created by the devil himself
Its a right PITA to keep looking good IMHO

If your not going to machine polish like @Rob2k68 is/does I use Auto Finesse Tripple
http://www.polishedbliss.co.uk/acatalog/auto-finesse-tripple.html

Cheap and easy enough to apply with great results

Thanks bristle hound. I don't think I'm brave enough to go near my car with a machine polisher. Knowing me I'd end up paying more to get it corrected lol

No mate - was just sorting a couple of imperfections on the bumper before fitting paint protection film to the bumper lip to protect it (which I did myself pretty straight forward).

Going for Crystal Serum Black I think after the advice from you guys ;o)

Im told Crystal Serum Black has now been replaced by Crystal Serum Ultra, which is now 10h protection levels. It is suppose to be unbelievable!

I love how the coatings just keep getting harder (turn it up to 11). :) For me though I like to try and get the car detailed every couple of years as wear and tear means it's hard to avoid some marks so 2-3 year durability does me fine.

When I had them on the S3 I went over them lightly with Meguiar's Ultimate compound with the DA/soft black pad.

The PPF on the bumper film is an option when ordering the car but also in the accessory catalogue from VW parts dept so I picked one up mate and fitted it myself.

Managed to sort it out with Rupes fine finishing polish no3 and matching yellow pad .....

I would say so mate yes quality DA’s . I have the BigFoot mini, LHR15ES BigFoot mkii and the Nano ibrid which gives me a great range of pad sizes 40mm, 70mm, 100mm and 150mm which use the same compound.
