Anyone upgraded their reverse lights to something a lot brighter?

Always thought they ain’t great but maybe it’s a age thing ( 30 next year ) but I couldn’t see a thing the other night reversing in the dark.

My facelift tail lamps are all LED, so there's no changing reverse bulbs. I set them to the maximum intensity (127, I believe) with VCDS. That's about all that can be done on the LED facelift units.

I have read about this before. Did you notice a difference Dan? Where is this adaptation in VCDS? Cheers!

Although you might be able to make them a bit brighter in VCDS... Or change the bulbs to LED in the PFL... I think it was discussed here (or on another forum) the other day and the general consensus was that they're not actually there for you to see - they're there for people to see you! At which they do their job perfectly

Aren't there three main reasons in the car construction blurb for the reversing lights, to warn those coming towards you, to warn those around you, and for you to see better. Perhaps it is age but I also would certainly like brighter reverse lights so your not alone @The-challinor.
Let us know if you find any that improve vision and out of interest how do those with reversing cameras get on?

If I'm honest, I don't recall much of a difference between 100 and 127. I seem to remember changing them to something arbitrarily low to make sure the adaptation actually affects the brightness, which I believe I confirmed.

I will have to hook back up to the car to see if I can find the adaptation path again.

Thanks Dan. I think @DJAlix mentioned that, for the LEDs, anything above 100 does not change anything? I could be wrong though...

Rear reversing camera..... Wonderful thing even when it's Pitch black..... :footy:

That sorta makes sense but I do struggle when it dark to see a ****** thing, don’t like relaying on sensors 100%

What’s the standard value?

Seems plausible. I don't recall feeling like there was any difference. I think I did one side at a time to be able to compare.

Didn't commit it to memory, unfortunately, but I feel like the intensity was at or near max before I jacked with it. As above, that probably means the value was already at or near 100.

Yeah fair enough. All I can say is even with upgraded LED high quality bulbs (PFL) the other day on a dark street I still couldn't see a thing lol

Thanks guys, guess I just need to shut up and put up then!

LED diodes as small as they are in the rear cluster will never emit enough Lumins/Lux as great as a standard filament light bulb...as they have to a uber strong lenses in front of them to project the light
