Pedal box worth it?

That's what I thought.
Just need to turn off before my visit to Audi tomorrow, hopefully they get my Audi connect issue sorted and can then see you for some coding :)
My A3 is going in tomorrow and I will be leaving the pedal box "as is", will just tuck the controller out of view.

What’s the stop for on the pedal once your all the way down to the floor you can feel something almost clicking into place?
Extra kickdown on the S-tronic, but believe it is fitted to all cars regardless of gearbox

So first day with mine fitted, even though I had turned it off yesterday as Alex said it will go to green when the ignition turns on. On my commute to work it was noticeable that it had been fitted, on my way home though it was a bit annoying - maybe just because of slow moving +/ stop-start traffic and even on the green setting it just felt too sensitive and annoying at times....
Hopefully I get used to it quickly and don't regret the purchase! I guess the advantage of some of the other models is you can go less sensitive than the "green" mode (50%) of the TMC one.

I was considering this at first, but found a coding somewhere that pretty much removed the sluggishness in D mode, that's pretty much all I wanted anyway, works pretty good, it's like in S mode but without the high rev gear change.

Not found this behaviour when in traffic with mine. Am sure its just a case of getting used to it. I did two days of normal driving with the unit on and then tested by turning it off... you will wonder why the car was not like this from the factory!

TMC has a money back guaranty if you don't like the products.

Ahh, I can’t say I’ve noticed it changing gear down when it’s depressed all the way. I guess it depends what gear your are in the first place.

Either way I’m not a massive fan of how it feels tbh.

Ah right.. Yeah if you're in something high and push the pedal you might drop a gear... I find if you get to that switch and activate it you might drop two.

A good test is to put it in manual mode, when you put your foot down it will stay in your selected gear... But if you get it passed that switch it will override your selection and kick down to an appropriate gear. Great for if you're in an emergency and forgot you were in manual

Something I’ve never played with, just don’t like the feel of it. I’ll give it a go though

Over the weekend I undid the TMC box (4 screws) there is a dial in there that is used to change the sensitivity. It's pointing to 5 by default, assume this is 50% which is what green is meant to be.

I turned mine down to around 3-4 and it has made it a bit less responsive which matches my day to day driving better :) not sure what red mode puts it up to % wise mind you now, maybe 50%

The dtukbox allows you to change settings while you are driving giving you much more flexibility when the driving conditions change. Yes, it cost more but I feel having around 20 different settings allows you find the right one for all driving situations at the press of a button. It also looks good and is in keeping with A3 cabin trim giving it an OEM feel.

Pedalbox+ is great

Interesting read as I'm thinking of getting a pedal box myself . I was wondering have you all declared it to insurance ? I'm with LV and not really sure what the difference would be or if they would flat refuse it as a modification. Have been suggested there is a way of doing it through vcds to get better throttle response , I don't have access to that unless someone can help me with that , and do you think that would need declaring ? It's not standard but is within the cars software as such .

It seems that everyone that's commented has an auto box. Anyone running DTUK on a manual. I've got the DTUK FSR+, just curious if fitting the pedal box is worth the outlay?

I had both pal. I just took the pedal box off as I was getting a map so didn’t really want it on. It certainly makes a difference to the throttle response and does what it says it’s supposed to do.

That was about 3 years ago and the clutch started haha.

Contacted LV insurance about fitting a pedal box and if it would affect my premium . I did it through online chat and was suprised to hear there's no additional premium required . I explained fully what it does , she went away for advice and said as it's a removable device it didn't require adding to the policy . I've got a copy of the chat transcript just in case

Worth it for a 1.5T or is it a waste in that kind of engine ?
I would maybe even argue that with smaller engines the more useful it could be.

I've got one on my S3.. I forget I actually have one.. Maybe should remove it for a bit to see what the difference is like considering I've had it fitted for several months now.

I didn't really understand properly what they did till I got one.

I have the "original" DTUK Pedal Box and have been using it for over 2 years now fitted on my TDI. I know the new one has different kinds of settings but i have mine set to SPORT+ that gives for a sensitive throttle response with NO lag, which i love. I HATE driving my car without it now!. So its on all the time.

Combining that with my DTUK CRD3+ Tri-channel Tuning Box set to Map 2, +1. Its frikken AWESOME and pulls like crazy in every gear

So YES, 100% recommendation.

Junk and an embarrassment that so many “drivers” on here rate it. All it does is compress the the range of acceleration. Take it to its extreme and replace the accelerator pedal with an on/off switch.

No professional or remotely serious driver would be caught dead using something like this.

Creates the illusion of making your car faster and more responsive by reducing the amount of control you have.

What's wrong with that though...?

Tie a barbell weight to your foot and achieve the same thing for much less money.

Basically you’re paying money to swap the volume control on your telly from going from 0-100 to go from 20-50-100.

Well yes, though they aren't really too expensive either.

Have you ever used one?

Yes. Rest assured I’m not the type to slag off or endorse things without having actually tried it first. I was given one for two weeks to trial. I used it on a manual car. I was given the option to keep it at the end.

I sent it back.

I wonder if it being a manual would make a difference.
Especially as I find the auto to always be in a gear too high while sports is a gear too low.

Anyway. Fair enough.

No difference. Has no effect on gear changes whatsoever. It simply makes your foot heavier. If you want to change the behaviour of your auto box you need a TCU tune.

Yes I know, but with the auto you could be going round corners in 5th gear at idk 30 mph. Low revs so not much response. So the pedal box can give you a heavier foot easier so atleast you have more revs in that higher gear quicker and might be able to make a move.

I can just imagine it being less useful in a manual but never driven an S3 in manual and more so with a pedal box to compare.

As with anything, some people see the point, others don't :)
