Do you need a complete new mirror?

I reckon so. As the leds are not working for the indicators. The glass has gone as well as the cover. Lights in the dash saying the leds are out.

I priced the powerfold Mirrors up a couple of weeks ago. They are £175 a side for the bodies alone.

I have been to audi this morning. Main body is fine. All electrics work. I have had to order a top casing, led strip, and mirror glass. Casing only comes in primer so audi have to paint it for me aswell. Total cost for this is 250quid. Not as bad as i first thought but still a royal pain in the ar**.

Jesus! That's a ridiculous price, take it the LED indicator was knackered then.

Works intermittently and has put a warning on the dash. So better of just replacing it, plus it has a crack in it. Yer not cheap but what can you do. Cant replace with second hand, car is not even a year old yet. Would just be wrong in my eyes.

I broke the passenger mirror on my old 8P years ago (my fault). Damage was limited to a cracked shell and broken glass (dimming). All the movement mechanisms will worked perfectly.

Audi wanted £472 to fix! Granted a large part of the cost was the dimming glass but, even so, I'd prepare yourself for a fairly hefty bill given the damage.

At least they're build fairly well - the mirror on the Citroen I hit was totally obliterated but got a complete replacement off eBay for £35! :(

This is an habitual problem in the lanes in Devon. So in these lanes I drive with my mirrors folded in which gives me probably at least an extra 6 inches on the hedge side (stops the housing being scratched) and the same on the drivers side to prevent muppets hitting the mirror.

But the mirrors won't fold unless you're stationary...

Not true, mine will fold when I’m doing at least 20mph and maybe more. Funnily enough the mirrors on my TT will only fold when it is almost stationary.

Prettly sure mine only fold when going at slow speeds. Will have to check... although to be fair i shouldn’t have to. Pol should just pay attention when driving everyone would be ok lol.

We stayed a bit further on in Port Isaac in 2015 a few months after I got the S3, like you say a lot of narrow lanes with high hedges, the locals just come straight at you!!! They don't slow down or try to move out of the way. We had a week around there and my heart was in my mouth a few times! Think I posted on here about a tractor almost taking the side of my car off.......found it:

In fairness it's not always locals but often muppets from cities who have little/no experience of driving along narrow roads and lanes. They arrive with their Chelsea Tractors and think that gives them to right to drive ahead so that everyone else should get out of their way. We can see the result - an increase in accidents round here during the summer months.

I tested mine this morning (on my 2014 A3) and I can fold the mirrors up to 30mph. I assume by your silence that you can do the same!

Nah I just keep forgetting to check it. Mine is the same vintage as yours though so likely the same.
