Picking up mine tomorrow. Coming from a 2005 VW Golf GT TDI. I'm sure others will answer but I can give you some first impressions :)

Please do! I'm coming from 3.0L Toyota Hilux of which turbo lag was absolutely horrible, and just don't want a similar story with this car too. I've seen mixed reviews of the MPG so I'm sceptical so far

I just ordered my 3rd 1.4 tfsi a couple of weeks ago (A4 of course)

They are a brilliant engine in my eyes, my A3 Saloon was excellent on fuel and had plenty of go when I needed it. I can’t comment on the s tronic box as my A1 and A3 Saloon were both manuals.

I do find the noise of the 1.4 a little loud sometimes especially on my A1. Makes it sound like a diesel sometimes?

Best MPG I’ve had out of the A1 was 60 and the A3 was around 55

I see. It's good to hear that it was averaging 55 in an A3 Saloon, I'm guessing seeming as there isn't a heaven and hell difference between the a4 and the a3 saloon, it should be averaging in the 40's somewhere? the sound isn't a major issue, i'm hearing the sound insulation in the A4 is impeccable so won't be so noticeable (atleast i hope!).

I'm no longer a manual guy, just feel long drives are a lot more enjoyable in a nice auto box like the s tronic.

I barely hear the engine in mine.

I'm not blown away by the economy. On my commute (6 miles of not great traffic that takes me 30 minutes or so), I get mid-to-high twenties. Took it out on the motorway last weekend for the first time, and got mid-forties.

I have become convinced that those who get 50+ mpg out of it only ever drive downhill :D

Quite, the comment on the sound must be from when the bonnet is lifted and hearing the high pressure injectors as you'll be hard pressed to hear anything from the engine inside the cockpit. With my A3 when the engine was idling I had to check it was still switched on from the rev counter..

Im hoping economy wise mine fares better otherwise im better off just sticking to me 4x4 which averages low to mid 20s depending on the stretch!

I used to get 40-44mpg from my A3 on my commute of urban driving...

Im guessing it would be much different considering the A4 is a bigger car? Im guessing mid 30’s might just be the avg for the A4 urban?

Curb weight of my A3 was 1240kg, curb weight of the equivalent A4 is 1320kg, so a difference of 80kg..

Hmm maybe not as bad as I think then.. lets wait for delivery day!

You're welcome, the only thing is that the experiences of obtained mpg is totally a subjective experience and can vary from one driver to another, perhaps without the car being the factor..

Ofcourse it does. Ive only been haunted by my Hilux which would need a full tank by the end which included at max 230 miles of driving

Just have fun and drive drive drive, mpg to me is not the importance...

It is my first Audi, so Im hoping it leaves a lasting impression.. i was very adamant on a BMW till i saw the leasing price of them things..

MPG is just one of them things, I just wanted to make sure it wouldnt be at the petrol station all the time haha

You’ll be far more impressed with the interior of the Audi over the bmw, I looked at 335 m sports and Mercedes c/e/cla’s and was sorely disappointed with the interiors in them! The merc was better than the bmw mind but the only one bearable was the e class and even that looked and felt cheap compared to the Audi

You’ll have no regrets, just enjoy it

100%. My cousin who has a C Class coupe actually commented on the interior being borderline boring and dull.. The test drive Audi that I had boasted some lovely interior. Ive not yet used the VC but I’ve seen it in action on a S4 and was absolutley gorgeous!

BMW’s 3 series interior is dated now and in urgent need of a refresh, so it’s not hard to beat that interior thats for sure!

Only had mine since yesterday and only covered 61 Miles but so far so good. I’m currently getting about 36mpg which considering the car is brand new I don’t think is too bad.

I can’t say I’m blown away with performance but then it’s a 1.4 in a big car so I wasn’t expecting anything other than “just ok” however it’s pretty pokey and in the right gear and the right revs it’s moves pretty swiftly.

Only issue I have with it is 2nd gear at low revs is leathal. At junction and roundabouts you need to make sure you’re either in 1st gear or a high enough speed that 2nd can get going as at low speed your foot can be on the floor and it barely moves.

I’m guessing the issue with the gearing around round abouts and so forth is for the manuals and not the auto s tronic?

I do like your Avant! Kinda am leaning more towards the avant pref than the saloon for the a4!

Yeah, sorry, Just noticed you mentioned s tronic.

I’m not sure what the kick down is like in the auto but I’m guessing it will kick down to the correct gear and not leave you panicking at a junction.

I went for the S-Tronic because Manual is just beyond me haha. I have heard good things about the S-Tronic but let’s see. It seems that majority of the people went for the manual in the 1.4engine

@Syed Shah as promised first impressions! Picked it up this morning...

The car is beautiful (went for sport trim) and it’s lovely. The interior as mentioned is so nice, still need to get used to the MMI and how it all works properly.
I’ve only drive it around 35 miles and got 31mpg so far, it only had 7 miles on clock.
Performance is hard to judge yet, coming from a 140bhp GT TDI I used to happy put foot down it seems more subtle but in certain gears and revs it defo moves. I did notice on occasions it did feel like it didn’t want to move straight away

All in all really happy. Will report back when I get on dual carriageway and cover more miles

Thats not bad mate! The white really has grown on me to the extent that i wish that i had gone for white over black! Gives the car so much more character...

Having studied the White V's black headache I'm still undecided. Provisionally ordered the black but have still got a few weeks to change my mind.

Use autotrader... that kind of made me think damn maybe i should have gone for white instead. Ive seen some really nice examples in the spec I have ordered.

Hehe, seem to have spent the last few months surfing Autotrader.

I bought a van last year, first white vehicle I've ever had. I seem to clean it far too much (more than usual) and it shows up every little tar spot around sills and wheel arch rims. That's what's putting me off the White.

Although I'm guessing the black won't be much better!!!

Despite knowing what mine will look like inside and out, I still spend a lot of time on AutoTrader hahaha. Fair to say I am quite excited! Me dads van is also white and a complete pain to clean.. especially in this weather.

Saying that, the black would definitely do a better job of not showing any marks and so forth.. choice is yours but a white with black edition spec goes down very very nicely.. they look gorgeous!

I've ummm'ed & arrrr'ed so much on colour choice. Picked all other options very easily. But colour, no quick decision.

Ideally it'd be nice to view one of each side by side. However, there isn't any BE A4's at local dealer to see.

When is your collection day?

Mine was an on the spot decision... followed by a major ‘damn!’ two weeks later when i started my Auto Trader hunt haha..

I haven’t got one just yet.. mine has currently left Inglostadt and should be making its way very soon. Im hoping to collect around new years day

I've been given a provisional build date of 12th Feb. Which alarms me as current car goes back at end of Jan.

Very curious as to how long from a build date to collection day???
