400m Drag race between a fl rs3 saloon and a fl golf r. Unsurprising result, golf got slaughtered and near 1 sec behind

Seemed a bit slow in terms of times there. Aren't the south african cars tuned to slightly lower HP?

Also Archie loaned RS3 has gone back now.

What I don’t get is that this guy raced on about the rs3 then went and bought an a45 and W Chaved it right up:tearsofjoy::tearsofjoy:

He had the A45 before he got the RS3, didnt he?
Who knows they seem to have a bank vault of money him and the other lot of you tubers, change cars like I change trainers

I don’t think they buy then cars... they are ‘loaned’ to them for a bit of YouTube publicity

Yeah I think he actually bought the A45 last year and it was his daily driver. The RS3 got loaned to him and replaced the A45 as his daily driver for 3 months I think and now he's back to the A45. Plus he bought the R8 V10 Plus 4 months ago.

In this he says he's a racing driver, really couldn't tell. Also got a company that makes wireless speakers/headphones and buys/sells cars.

He is the grandson of Duncan Hamilton, the LeMans winner in 1953. Duncan started a family business which sells and brokers historic competition cars and Archies father took over running the business. Presume Archie helps too. Archie raced in the LeMans and other races too.

I just had no clue about him, just randomly watch his videos from time to time and would never have guessed he is one.

I think Shmee is from a wealthy family. He says he was a city trader or worked for a bank but his linked in just says he worked in IT for a bank.

Not sure what those in archies vid did for a living prior to vlogging. Most of the vloggers make their money from sponsorship and advertising, not from you tube - you tuve only give you a reasonable living - youd have to have a daily 1 million vid to make decent money from you tube alone. Autovlog shows how much he makes, but who knows who to believe

Nice and its a Floret Silver RS3 Saloon which I'll get next year hopefully.

Just read the review in evo mag against the m2. It's almost like moron reviewer had decided he didn't like it because can't do the slidey backend thing cause that's called on fun.....on a public road?...moron. Another reviewer who completely misses the point of the rs3. It's fast fun safe and can be used all year round on a ****** public road, not a track.

Despite saying it's devastatingly quick and handles well whereas the m2 was a nightmare in the wet, he still preferred the m2, though the m2 got 4/5 the rs3 saloon got 3.5/5 . I'd have the rs3 any day. In fact I'd rather have an s3 or golf r than the m2. Weird lot these reviewers, so out of touch with reality.

It would seem if you can’t drive it down the road with the back end swinging out all over the shop they ain’t interested, because apparently that’s what makes for a good ‘drivers’ car these days........
Yet if people drove M2’s like that on public roads they’d be charged with Dangerous Driving.

Agreed, plus how many BMW sports hatches/coupes do you see on the roads.....hardly any around Berkshire. I have seen one 135i, no 140i, my friend has an M2. Seen plenty of Golf Rs, S3 and the odd Rs3. I think that alone tells you something.

I think that’s probably down to BM selling their whole supply of 135/140’s around where I live... every other car seems to be one :tearsofjoy:

Lots of M135/140i's around by me. At least 10 to every RS3. I can see two in the car park right now!

Pretty even round my way in leafy West Surrey.
I'd say that I see one or two RS3s, M1XX and Golf Rs each week. Probably see more R8s actually. Astons are the most common 'super' car as H Owen is down the road. Only see an M2 about once a fortnight. I still like it - I wish the RS3 had fatter wheel arches.

I've only seen 1 M135i in the Midlands but 3-4 M2s. Seen 1-2 PFL RS3 but no FL RS3 yet. S3's are rising quite fast, was rare to see them but I've seen 8 of them last month alone. Golf Rs are less common now though, only seen 2-3 and 1 was an FL. Also only seen 1 GTI Clubsport.

I wouldn't take their videos into account much. In their earlier video, they didn't even know how to rev the RS3. He left it in drive with foot on the brake and started accelerating.

Although its a review of the RS4, it explains why the FL RS3 exhaust is quieter than the PFL.

'Audi Sport says that’s because its recent newcomers (RS4, RS5, RS3 facelift) already meet an upcoming EU noise regulation that’s clamping down on cheeky valved exhausts. Apparently, AMG, Alfa and BMW will have to calm down their rivals within a few years too, so Audi’s simply getting a dull job done ahead of time.'

I'm also surprised they say the RS5 does 3.2 seconds 0-60mph time but good to see the RS4 is better than the RS5.

I F...... hate all this EU ******. Can’t do this can’t do that F....... nonsense. What a crazy law on noise control, ****** me off all these regulations and legislation in place, live for today as you are along time dead.

That's because the EU is like a dictatorship.
Fortunately we're leaving soon! Unfortunately we will still be buying cars made in the EU.

The new RS4 is one good looking car, I must admit. Watched a review the other day though, and was a little disappointed with the sound. Looks like cars are going to get a whole lot more boring sounding in future.

Just finished reading that review. It sounds like the Audi RS car to have. Good looking, rapid, stunning interior...

Wait for prices to rise........ I suggest everyone buy a stack of German cars and sell them once we leave...... think there will be a hefty premium on them

I'm not sure if this is the right website but it says since 1978 the UK limit has been 82dB. It progressively was reduced to 74dB by 1996 and now the 2016 EU regulation says by 2026 it needs to be 68dB. I'm pretty sure most performance cars have broken it from the start.
