So, in this latest Budget, NO increase in fuel duty for Petrol or Diesel.

Doesn't really matter - both went up 2p/l overnight here the other day anyway.

Budget was a disgrace - absolutely nothing done to get old polluting diesels off our roads.

The only other items relating to Diesel's were:
  • Vehicle excise duty for diesel cars that do not meet latest standards to rise by one band in April 2018
  • Tax hike will not apply to van owners
  • Existing diesel supplement in company car tax to rise by 1%
  • Proceeds to fund a new £220m clean air fund
I don't think I will be changing my 2.0TDI-184 quattro s-tronic and time soon.

Does anyone know what the latest standards are? I know Euro 6 is the latest off the production line but does that mean that below that will go up a tax band? If so then my 1.6 tdi Euro 5 will go from £0 to £30 I guess... not enough to make me swap yet. I’ll put her on sorn for a day in March and then tax at £0 for a year the next day

Only new cars from april 18. It will apply to anything below euro 6 after new cars are retested in the new EU real world tests

Ah my bad! Thought it applied to all cars that didn’t meet latest standards... all this talk about diesel being outlawed and can’t really see much being done myself. Initiatives so far have been common sense than a revolution.
