For the past six weeks my radiator fan is on constantly, even if I drive one street. It powers off after five minutes. I've taken it into my local garage (crazy cheap) & they put in a new engine management sensor & also a fan switch but it's made no difference? I heard it could be the control unit but I don't have £300 to replace that. I also have went on a few long jaunts as I heard it could just need a regen with the DPF but again that's made no difference. My friends tell me to just live with it as in hot countries they say the fans constantly run but I think this is dodgy.

I had this problem, my radiator fan would come on full blast as soon as I turned the car on for a few minutes then turn off - It would do that intermittently. Turns out it was a broken thermostat and on replacing, the issue was resolved.

Common fault is the fan pack, but that's speculative without more data.

Air con condensor is damaged? My fan kept running as the condenser wasn't cooling enough. Swapped that and bingo solved the issue.

How much did the replacement cost?
I bought a pro alloy one for about £120ish then the new seals were a few quid from TPS.
An oem unit was £200+ , th pro alloy one is nicely made too.

Surely if you turn the air-con off it wouldn't run the condenser, so you could eliminate this from your list of possible issues? Nothing worse than swapping things out only to find the problem is still there.

I never have the air con on unless it's the summer. It's off & the fan is still running.

A bit off-topic, but you should turn on air con every now and then even in winter time because the refrigerant contains oils to lubricate seals - if not, they will go bad faster than usual. Just a friendly advice as this happened to me on my previous 8P because I did not turn on air con for about 8 months and seal.
