Chris Harris review -Rock solid ride

My FL is standard RS suspension no mag ride and it's perfect on all surfaces. In my opinion that is !

Time to all start loving Chris and valuing his opinion as fact again.

“Unrecognisable next to the sh*t-box first gen RS3. Worth the extra over a Golf R? You'd swear it wasn't, but that 400hp Turbo 5.....just wow”

Am I missing something? Is there a link I can’t see to a review?

No review as of yet, that was just taken from his twitter account. Sure it will be out shortly, but sounds promising. Can’t wait for my re arranged test drive on Sunday now

Yes sounds very good, for Chris Harris to swallow his pride and admit that.... the car has to be epic.

Enjoy!!! You will fall in love with it, incredible machine. Be sure to let us all know your thoughts ASAP.

I will indeed! Hopefully take a few photos too. The fiancé has been invited by her group of friends for a walk lol...so I was like yeh, I think you should go...don’t worry about coming on the test drive, it’s fine. Another time lol. She’d ony tell me to slow down anyway, so quite chuffed she can’t join ha.

The salesman’s having to come wih, but he did say we would go on a longer route. So id hope if he’s getting a decent amount of commission from it

Yes photos are a must and an in-depth review :D
Think of weight saving, all for the walk ;)

My salesman said they won’t get any extra commission for my car in comparison to the A range. He said it would have to be an RS6/7/R8 for extra commission and that’s not always.

Waiting patiently... okay, impatiently.. for midnight to strike to hit the refresh button, I hope it shows panel shop! Seems common to happen on a Thursday before.

Haha, you define the word 'impatience' and 'worry'. They will have to update the Oxford English Dictionary!! :)

Can't wait to hear your early reports on it. Xmas is coming early for you.

Not sure what he meant. First gen RS3 would be the 8P RS3 wouldn't it?
Yeah, he means the 8P.
It is known to have been a big jump to the 8v PFL that we know and love.

Too early to tell what the jump is to the FL. It certainly looks to be a jump in several areas but perhaps nothing like the jump from 8P to 8V.

People were talking about the 8V PFL being a'favourite' and the most likely to get that 'classic' and 'the best of' moniker but I have a suspicion that this new 2018 FL, even with less pops, will boss it in the RS3 stakes - albeit until the new one comes along.

Am very interested to know more about it being "well damped"....ie. what setup he was driving and on what kind of roads. I suspect it was the RS fixed suspension....but hoping its magride
Had to laugh out loud when all you PFL boys jumped in defense/fell off your chairs lol [flame suit on].....and yes, its not PFL....its 8P (or whatever 1st gen RS3 was)

Yep it was 8P when this Harris coloured in BMW/Porsches colours just didn`t like it - not worth the money according to him :racer:.

An update from his twitter.

'Cold, wet British morning. Is there a better point-to-pointer than the RS3 for speed, grip, size. And heated seats?'

I’m Mexican and even I understood what he meant by rock solid (great)

Read some of the twitter replies..... surprising how angry people get.

So funny!

I can safely say, they are absolutely incredible... me and my brother have spent 190 miles laughing at the noises it makes. A downshift from 2000rpm and under is fantastic.

Now at the detailers until Sunday :(

No where near as loud as the PFL car though.

Permanently open ?

Yes, my remote from the S3 didn’t work because the plugs are a different size annoyingly.

Just unplugged them for now, much better. Much more interior noise...

What’s the best way to have them permanently unplugged?

Hi, yeah the S3 was a bit of a nightmare and I’m hoping for better luck with this one.
I plan on it being used on nice dry days only, but will see how that goes haha.

You can do what I did, put the car in dynamic so they open and remove the leads from the valves so they won’t shut. This gives a fault code off if plugged in with Audi or any other diagnostic tool, saying exhaust valve open circuit.

Or use VCDS, but then you need someone with VCDS to change it back.. I prefer the ease of plugs not having VCDS.

I been told it can’t be done via VCDS

By who? It’s how a lot of people have been doing it.

I’d just unplug them tbh.

Also tempted to remove my front plate. PPF people said to get rid, my detailer said he will leave it off for me ;) haha

Crossed wires here....

Exhaust valves can’t be opened with VCDS like the popular S3/G7R tweak

However Audinutta is saying that unplugging his valves creates error messages in the engine control module......hence the need for VCDS and the like to clear said errors.

Ah right, I didn’t know that they couldn’t be opened.. why can’t they on the RS3?

The errors will keep reappearing until the valves are plugged back in, but we can’t see them on the dash so makes no difference.

I plan on unplugging the valves when my car arrived and going to buy some ‘delete plugs’ to use... will keep the plugs/sockets from getting all bunged up with dirt and also should clear the error code

Right just ordered the terminator plugs and blanking plug connectors from vw international of flea bay will report back how good the are

You have the relevant correct coding ?
